THE SESSION
THE SESSION In this week’s RAP ACTIVITY, DUSKY, PRO & SKHETZN, MIC CHORDS and a duet of sisters, JB & JC guided the listeners like a compass on the microphone and composed their own definition of hip-hop. With DUSKY and PRO & SKHETZN concentrating on issues of crime and aids, one was uplifted to hear harsh realities of our society exposed to the public. The PRO & SKHETZN combination wasn’t impressive, and JB & JC sounded more like DA BRAT way back in ’94. As for MIC CHORDS, they truly deserved to be the winners and to participate in the final. These two mc’s shone like a full moon and caused listeners to howl like wolves on top of a hill. Respect.

This week’s RAP ACTIVITY saw the combination of local mc’s, DUSKY, PRO & SKHETZN, MIC CHORDS and JB & JC banding together to push lyrical premises under the term conscious. Because human beings feel it is wrong to maintain society with information, these local mc’s retained the firmness of their courage and continued to serve from natural inclination and from habit.

DUSKY, PRO & SKHETZN chose to convey their message through Nguni language thereby inspiring other rappers rapping in AFRICAN languages to take heed and trod the similar route. MIC CHORDS, JB & JC took turns to convey their message through the ‘ queens language’ with some positive rendition. The show was a mixture of languages as if the outcome of the show rested solely on a bilingual verdict. Nevertheless the winners were MIC CHORDS, brother and sister duo from VOSLOORUS.

The Battle
THE BATTLE

Two local mc’s, DEATH CODE and SHYHEIM THE EXTREME embarked on a restless battle, the type fought in great wars designed to exorcise and wound a mans ego. This is the exercise where the faint hearted loose face, where the thin- skinned recoil back home with a swollen forehead.

These two cats stooped low and retrieved, from the annals of hell, with a huge outburst of derogatory lyrics. However, DEATH CODE was the winner.
