America rapes and pimps Iraqi children in the name of Freedom.
Layla Anwar, An Arab Woman Blues
Bet you, this will not raise too many eyebrows, nor self righteous, condescending, patronizing, holier than thou, racist, paternalistic, indignation as my frequent usage of the word fuck. Raping and pimping Iraqi children in the name of Freedom and democratic human rights will NOT “tickle” your “highly moral sensitivities” as much as the word Fuck. This is how fucked up you are. This is it…”The declarations describe Blackwater as “having young girls provide oral sex to Enterprise members in the ‘Blackwater Man Camp’ in exchange for one American dollar. They add even though Prince frequently visited this camp, he “failed to stop the ongoing use of prostitutes, including child prostitutes, by his men.” And the American obooma admin does what in return – amidst the cheers of its anti-war, western, “liberal” “progressive” prostitutes ? It pays criminals even more money so they can perfect their art of spree killing, child rape and child pimping…on those “mohammed@ans”…

Bush tortured children, and America yawns
Mary Shaw, thepeoplesvoice.org
At an Amnesty International conference a few years ago, I had the honor of attending a talk by Clive Stafford Smith, a British attorney who represents some of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. Smith shared some alarming details about the abuse that his clients received. Perhaps most shocking was Smith’s description of cigarette burns and other scars that covered the body of a teenage prisoner. This boy had been taken into custody when he was only 14 years old. And this kid is allegedly not the only child who has been forced to experience the nightmare that is Gitmo. In a forthcoming book, Hearts of Darkness: Torturing Children in the War on Terror, author Henry A. Giroux describes some of these cases in horrifying detail…

US ‘biggest’ threat say Pakistanis
By Owen Fay, Aljazeera.net
A survey commissioned by Al Jazeera in Pakistan has revealed a widespread disenchantment with the United States for interfering with what most people consider internal Pakistani affairs. The polling was conducted by Gallup Pakistan – a separate organisation affiliated with the US-based Gallup Inc – and more than 2,600 people took part. Interviews were conducted across the political spectrum in all four of the country’s provinces, and represented men and women of every economic and ethnic background. When respondents were asked what they consider to be the biggest threat to the nation of Pakistan, 11 per cent of the population identified the Taliban fighters, who have been blamed for scores of deadly bomb attacks across the country in recent years. Another 18 per cent said that they believe that the greatest threat came from neighbouring India, which has fought three wars with Pakistan since partition in 1947. But an overwhelming number, 59 per cent of respondents, said the greatest threat to Pakistan right now is, in fact, the US, a donor of considerable amounts of military and development aid…

U.S. military accused of atrocities against Iraqi gays
Refugee tells stunned audience that soldiers detained, executed gay civilians
By CHRIS JOHNSON & LOU CHIBBARO JR., Washington Blade
A fundraising event to benefit an LGBT community center in Lebanon last week took a surprise turn when stunned audience members were shown graphic photographs of beheaded corpses and images purportedly depicting U.S. soldiers preparing to execute gay Iraqis…While asserting that anti-gay violence in Iraq is often committed by Iraqis, Hussam also said U.S. service members were involved in anti-gay hostility. For example, he said service members displayed signs in front of their barracks with the words “Fuck Off Fags.” But the reaction from the audience turned from anger to shock when Hussam said U.S. service members had detained Iraqi civilians perceived to be gay and executed them…Hussam discussed his personal experiences as a gay man living in Iraq with the Blade before the start of the Nellie’s fundraiser Sunday. “I was involved with the LGBT community in Iraq before and after the war” …He said gays were far better off under Saddam’s regime…

One year since the passing of Mahmoud Darwish: Make yourself what you want
Kristen Ess
A year has passed since the words were written on PNN, “There is no news today of more importance: There is only sorrow as we mourn the loss of Mahmoud Darwish.” A year has passed since tears flowed openly at Ramallah’s Al Muqata, the presidential headquarters, between officials, family, friends, journalists and members of the security, during a funeral of flowers and heartache. On August the tenth of last year we lost the greatest Palestinian poet, a national spokesperson, due to complications from his third open heart surgery…

Explosives, mines and white phosphorus clean-up operation in Gaza
IRIN news
The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has begun removing 600,000MT of rubble and debris left over from Israel’s Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip. More than six months later, the most deadly threat to civilians emanates from unexploded ordnance (UXO) in rubble and underground. Falling rubble and hazardous material, including UXO, have killed 17 and injured at least 25 Palestinians, mostly children, since the operation ended on 18 January, according to UNDP in Gaza. At least 31 munitions containing white phosphorus have been found. Israel’s use of white phosphorus in Gaza was initially denied but was recently acknowledged in an official report but with the claim that it was used only in a manner consistent with relevant international law…

Perpetual War for Perpetual War
Get ready for a “lasting military presence” in Iraq
By Jeff Huber
…All the talk about withdrawing from Iraq is an Orwellian card trick. Reese says our “lasting military presence” should not “include the presence of any combat forces save those for force protection needs or the occasional exercise.” Why would we need to leave noncombat forces behind? So they can cook and clean for the combat forces that provide them force protection? The exercises we might do with the Iraqis would involve practicing for the invasions of Iran and Syria, which is the real reason the warmongery wants to keep an enduring base of operations in Iraq. There’s no need to conduct defensive exercises. None of Iraq’s neighbors is capable of invading and occupying it or crazy enough to try. President Obama’s promise to remove all U.S combat troops from Iraq by August 2010 was also a see-through canard. As Gareth Porter revealed in March, the “advisory and assistance brigades” that will remain after that date will in fact be combat brigades augmented by a handful of advisers and assistants. The Cold War justified defense spending for a half-century. Now, the Pentagon is trying to validate its existence with another long war in the Middle East..

The Secret Burial of President Arafat
Kawther Salam
Nasser Al-Kidwa, the former PLO ambassador to the UN, demanded that the sixth Fatah congress take place in Bethlehem, to declare that Israel is behind Naser Al-Kidwathe assassination of the late President Yaser Arafat. Everybody applauded and voted for the Al-Kidwa suggestion, including the very people suspected to be the killers of Arafat, who were among the participants in the conference. Nobody asked Al-Kidwa to disclose the results of his investigation as head of the committee to investigate Arafat’s death. Nobody asked him who were the Palestinian killers and the collaborators with Israel who killed Arafat?…

Fatah ignoring the real issues, clamoring over hollow titles
From Khalid Amayreh in Bethlehem
Many Palestinians had thought that the Fatah convention in Bethlehem would revitalize the movement by delivering it from its current dishonorable subservience to Israel and putting it on the right track again, the track of authentic national struggle that would free the Palestinian people and their usurped homeland from cruel Zionist occupation and domination. However, what we have been witnessing in the past few days instead is cacophony of raving and ranting that has miserably failed to tackle the real defining issues facing the Palestinian people and endangering its vital national interests…

Video: Iraq’s unpaid Awakening Councils
Aljazeera.net
Awakening Councils have been credited with bringing relative security to towns and cities in Iraq. Local Sunni fighters opted to stop fighting US-led forces in 2006, and help them fight al-Qaeda instead. They are still on patrol, but they haven’t been paid since the US handed over its command to the Iraqi government. Al Jazeera’s Omar Al-Saleh gained rare access to the city of Samarra and sent this report…

Kamal Abu T’iema: Another victim of PA-Zionist perfidy
From Khalid Amayreh at El-Fawar Refugee camp near al-Khalil
As hundreds of Fatah delegates were preoccupied with their long-awaited and much-heralded Sixth assembly in Bethlehem this week, Kamal Abu T’iema, who was lying at a hospital bed in Amman, quietly succumbed to a massive stroke he had suffered as a result of unrelenting torture at the hands of Palestinian Authority (PA) interrogators in al-Khalil. Abu T’iema’s tragic death on 4 August passed unnoticed at the conference. At least ten other Palestinian activists have been tortured to death at the hands of PA security agents since the beginning of PA-Israeli security coordination nearly two years ago…

Informal ban on Fateh activities in Gaza, phones to be confiscated, solution is release of detainees
PNN
Fateh Central Committee member Zacharia Al Agha said on Saturday evening that the security organs of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip have banned the activities of his movement “on an informal basis.” Hamas spokesman Ayman Taha was reported as approving the withdrawal of mobile phones from members of Fateh in the Gaza Strip. This move would be to prevent them from participating in the Sixth Conference underway in Bethlehem, but particularly in not being part of the elections to the Central Committee and the Revolutionary Council. The Palestinian Authority security bodies also ban Hamas gatherings in the West Bank…
