VHeadline.com Venezuela Venezuela's Electronic News — www.vheadline.com/ BREAKING NEWS www.vheadline.com/readnews.asp?id=21085 National Assembly (AN) deputy Willian Lara (MVR) is proposing a deal with the governments of Colombia and the United States of America to exchange the right-wing Colombian paramilitaries captured last Sunday, for the return of Venezuelan fugitives Pedro Carmona Estanga, Carlos Fernandez, Carlos Ortega and Carlos Molina Tamayo. The Movimiento Quinta Republica (MVR) party executive said that the government-supporting Democratic Bloc would be advancing a discussion focused on what to do with captured foreign terrorists and agents of destabilization. “The Venezuelan fugitives could perfectly well be detained by the FBI or other security agency in Miami,” Lara told reporters. “We are setting up a special commission with opposition and government deputies from the Interior & Justice, Foreign Policy and Defense committees, to launch a parliamentary investigation into the case of the captured paramilitaries.” Lara is suggesting that the special commission should be headed by Zulia state legislator Rodrigo Cabezas and Miranda state representative Victor Hugo Morales and that its final document should have the full force of evidence before the courts. “The investigation must go into minute detail and to the fullest consequences because it is evident that we are faced with a group of terrorists who intended to activate a military rebellion against the legitimate government.” Lara says that rebel Venezuelan Army Captain Orlando Castro must be brought to trial for treason as well as those civilians who gave him logistical support … “international terrorists such as these have formed a vicious triangle against Venezuela with flash points in Miami (USA) and in Colombia.” “We must support the Venezuelan government to qualify the detainees as delinquents-criminals and we expect that the Colombian government will act with strength against those persons who commit crimes in Venezuela and thereafter request refuge in Colombia … such as the violent dictator Pedro Carmona Estanga. We must strengthen our security forces along the Colombian border to stop the terrorists from entering our territory.” Lara says that the opposition led Mayor of Baruta, Enrique Capriles Radonsky must assume his responsibilities for what happened in his jurisdiction, especially in the El Gavilan sector, where the paramilitares were captured and also at the residence of corruption-convicted ex-President Carlos Andres Perez. “We expect that he will investigate matters to their very foundation and are confident that we will arrive at the truth and that the paramilitaries will be convicted for military rebellion.” VHeadlines for Tuesday, May 11, 2004 www.vheadline.com/readnews.asp?id=21084 www.vheadline.com/yaremi_rivero.asp VHeadline.com remains 100% independent of all political factions in Venezuela Our editorial statement reads: Please give your support to our continuing efforts SUBSCRIBERS ARE ADVISED THAT THEY, AND THEY ALONE, HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MAINTAINING THEIR FREE SUBSCRIPTION TO VHEADLINE.COM VENEZUELA AND THAT OUR EDITORIAL STAFF DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO SUBSCRIBE OR UNSUBSCRIBE ANY READER.
