VHeadline.com editor & publisher Roy S. Carson writes: I must begin this report with a sincere apology to a number of readers who have emailed VHeadline repeatedly with indisputable evidence of corruption in the ranks of the Chavez Frias government. Several have emailed us a lengthy file several times, insisting that we must publish what they sent or, otherwise, any shred of editorial independence will fly straight out the window.

Nevertheless, as a responsible e-publisher we set out to check the facts rather than to simply rush into print and our investigations have shown quite another picture.

We must also apologize profusely for having to drag more than a hundred persons' names through the mud again after a week of Internet rumor-mongering by forces intent on raping the personal privacy and professional reputations of anyone who stands in their nefarious way.

Our first port of call was a contact at the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) who, while specifically refusing to categorically deny that such records were indeed kept, was able to tell us that if indeed the cited report existed it would be necessarily be subject to rigorous classification as a US government secret.

That several of the persons mentioned in the list have also denied the details listed, is perhaps somewhat to be expected whether the information is true or not, but further examination of the list and the story attached to it shows it clearly to be a work of fiction and most probably the work of a disinformation unit, of which there is a proliferance in the murky waters that divide both sides of the Venezuelan political conflict.

Add to this the fact of a direct denial by one of the alleged participants in the meeting between President Hugo Chavez Frias and billionaire Gustavo Cisneros and the plot thickens. It bears all the hallmarks of that hoary old attempt by Militaresdemocraticos.org to tell the world that Hugo Chavez Frias was somehow funding Al Qaeda and that chemical weapons laboratories were in 24/7 clandestine production at an undisclosed location “somewhere in Los Teques.”

In an email to VHeadline.com, Mr. William Ury explicitly denies ever having attended the Chavez-Cisneros-Carter meeting … so the rest of the highly exciteable “news release” must be put into question … including a supposed listing of Venezuelan government officials and others who are alleged to hold multi-$ million bank accounts in the United States.

Simply ask yourself if you were a corrupt Venezuelan government official, would it be likely that you would stash your cash anywhere near where the CIA or the DEA could find it? And … if you were so incredibly stupid … would it not be a propaganda gift horse to the White House and the Miami Herald, neither of whom have clarioned any such details to the world media … as they most certainly would have no hesitation in doing if they had even the slightest shred of supporting evidence.  No?

The highly rhetorical verbage ends with “Creemos que la Revolucion tal y como Fue Planteada Finalmente Tiene Sus Dias Contados” — we believe that the Revolution such as it was finally planned, has its days numbered!
