These reports, coming as they do after reports about torture at Guantanamo Naval Gulag, at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan, the Diego Garcia base situated in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and, of course, Abu Ghraib in Iraq, should show us that torture lies at the very heart of the U.S.-declared ‘War on Terror’. What makes this even more remarkable is the robotic response of U.S president George W. Bush, when asked about torture at a press conference recently: “We do not torture.” One wonders, who is this ‘we’ of whom he speaks?…

…In an exclusive statement to Mafkarat al-Islam, a source in the Iraqi Resistance refuted claims made by US-installed puppet “President of Iraq” Kurdish separatist Jalal at-Talibani that he had been in contact with the Resistance and that the Resistance was ready to lay down its arms. The source told Mafkarat al-Islam that the claims by at-Talibani and his “adviser, the liar,” that they had been in contact with Resistance groups and that the Resistance was ready to lay down arms, were “lies with no basis in fact and moreover they invite ridicule, because they reveal just how far they have been brought down under the painful blows inflicted by the detachments of the Iraqi Resistance, which have beaten them sensless”…

You may by now have seen yesterdays Telegraph story about a video filmed through the rear window of a private security company car in Iraq. It shows some random looking shooting with automatic weapons on cars coming up from behind. People seem to get hurt (…) But there is another one and it is worse (…) This video shows how US soldiers in Iraq, with the help of a robot, blow up a standing car that appears to have had an accident, while a young man, well alive but probably trapped, is still sitting in that car…
