Governmental and Humanitarian Reports Disclose Violations of the Rights of Iraqi Female Detainees at Iraqi Interior Ministry Stations
Al-Mendhar
Reports prepared by nongovernmental organizations have disclosed that female detainees have been exposed to disgraceful violations at interior ministry stations, including rape on behalf of investigators and obtaining confessions under threat and force, in addition to physical and psychological torture. These organizations have expressed their worries regarding the deterioration of the conditions of female detainees in detention and investigation centers of the interior ministry. They pointed out that the detention centers do not provide with the minimum necessary living conditions…

Oil for Food My Foot
Kurt Nimmo, Another day in the empire
Few of us give a whit about the so-called Oil for Food scandal. It’s little more than a pet project for neocon Republicans, so-called “conservatives” in Washington, and like-minded folks at the United Nations and in the British Commons. The so-called Oil for Food scandal obfuscates the real issue˜the sanctions imposed against Iraq by a maidservant United Nations (and enforced by US and British warplanes) were responsible for killing more than a million people, half of them defenseless children. Denis Halliday, United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Baghdad, resigned his post in 1997. “I don’t want to administer a programme that satisfies the definition of genocide,” said Halliday…

Libby-Cheney-Rove: What is to be done?
Stan Goff, Feral Scholar
…Many on the left ˜ and by this I mean something more discriminating than a “left” inclusive of Hillary Clinton and Al Franken ˜ are not sure what to make of the whole Plame-gate affair. We seem to be WRITING on it, but mostly for the purpose of showing simultaneously that (1) we knew the war was based on lies when the press was still giving the Bush regime the presumption of goodwill, that (2) normally we would consider outing CIA agents to be a very positive thing (this preserves our self-images as REAL leftists), and that (3) the Democrats ˜ true to form ˜ are hiding in the hedges hoping the administration will collapse without them having to suffer any dilemmas between restive massess and their capitalist funding streams…

Rove and Cheney Are Now Caught In Fitzgerald’s Web. Will they Go Down too?
Jason Leopold, GlobalResearch.ca
Now it’s about the Niger forgeries. On Friday, after securing a five-count criminal indictment against Vice President Dick Cheney’s Chief of Staff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, for lying to a grand jury about what he knew and when he knew it in regard to the outing of a covert CIA agent, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald plans to pursue broader conspiracy charges against Cheney senior White House officials, and top officials at the State Department and the National Security Council, that may finally shed light on how the Bush administration came to use erroneous intelligence that claimed Iraq tried to purchase yellowcake uranium from Niger, lawyers involved in the two year old investigation said…

The First Card Falls, The Truth Remains Hidden
Anthony Wade
Today the first card in the house of cards that is the corrupt Bush administration fell as Scooter Libby was indicted on five counts in the Plamegate saga. Libby represents only one card. He is not the end, nor the beginning. This is not a day for celebration as the job remains far from over. The truth is still hidden. The real criminals are still at large. The real crime remains untold…

DIRTY TRICKS WITH MONEY
Malcom Lagauche
It is common knowledge that much Iraqi money was counterfeited after the illegal U.S. invasion of 2003. Both the new Saddam-less dinars and the former currency with the Iraqi president were fair game for copiers. The biggest culprit was Ahmed Chalabi, everyone’s favorite crook. He had warehouses full of counterfeit bills of both eras. Eventually, he was caught, but he never was tried or fined for the crime of which the magnitude was staggering. Being of the same crooked mentality of the stooges now in power in Iraq, Chalabi was named as Minister of Energy. Instead of disavowing such actions, the quislings held Chalabi in high esteem because he was able to rob much more than they could. There was a counterfeit scheme in Iraq in the early 1990s that was much more devastating than Chalabi’s shenanigans. It hit the country hard and everyone suffered. Don’t be remiss if you never heard of this. It was a tightly-guarded operation…

Bay SOS ‘was written in blood’
ABDULRAHMAN FAKHRI
AN SOS written in blood on a prison cell wall spelled out the desperation of Bahraini Guantanamo detainee Juma Al Dossary. It was his last resort after being continuously denied medical treatment as he grew increasingly ill in appalling conditions, he says in his handwritten diary of despair. He claims he has been savagely beaten, tortured, sexually humiliated, fed bug-infested, rotten food and denied medical treatment, in a systematic campaign of abuse meted out for over three years…

BBC News: Lancet Report too old to mention!!!
The Cat’s Dream
On Wednesday, 26 October 2005 the BBC News website in “US death toll in Iraq hits 2,000" reported: “Unofficial estimates put Iraqi civilian deaths since the war at about 25,000.” In this article there is NO MENTION of probably the most serious and scientific study conducted on the subject by some of the world’s leading epidemiologists and published by one of the most respected scientific publication, the Lancet…

Writing in an Age of Terror
David Swanson
…Every serious article about U.S. or global politics that pretends there is no war in Iraq is an example of writing in an age of terror. Every article that pretends the war is not a blatant violation of international law and a crime against humanity is an example of writing in an age of terror. But that sort of writing, during other wars, predates the commandment from Bush to feel terrorized…

Tongue-Tied on Iraq
Why Aren’t the Democrats Screaming Bloody Murder?
LAURA SANTINA, CounterPunch
A recent Boston Globe article focused on the fact that the Democrats are struggling to find one voice on Iraq. We don’t need one voice from the Democrats. We need every Democrat who voted for this war to apologize for this illegal and immoral war and to insist that we leave Iraq immediately. On October 11, 2002, the Senate voted 77-23 and the House voted 296-133 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq if Saddam Hussein refused to give up weapons of mass destruction as required by UN resolutions. It didn’t matter that Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction and hadn’t had any since 1995, according to UN Weapons Inspector, Scott Ritter, a fact he says was known by US, British, Israeli and German intelligence…

What Patrick Fitzgerald didn’t say and the Media didn’t ask
Stan Moore
U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald announced the multi-count criminal indictment today of “Sleezebag Scooter” Libby, and in Fitzgerald’s statements implied that no other prosecutable crimes had been detected by his investigation of the Name-the-Plame-for-Shame Scandal. But there is much that Pat forgot to say, or failed to say, or decided not to say, and the media, which had ample opportunity to ask better questions, rolled over and acted like it had a continuing case of Investigative Alzheimer’s Disease…

When the high ranking Arab employee “lies” in the process of executing US state department orders!
The Arab Baath Socialist Party
…And when Amr Musa lies and leaks through some media connected to the Saudi regime, that he met, thanks to a Kurdish arrangement some unnamed, so called leaders of the Baath Arab socialist Party, he would have achieved in executing this US state department order, an in-depth coordination with the lying process practiced by the US defense department and other former Occupation institutions in rapport of a so called meetings with the Baath leaders, and the Resistance leaders. Neither the Arab Baath Socialist Party, nor any of its leaders, or any authorized personality from the Iraq leadership region did meet Amr Musa. This is nothing but mere desperate attempt to suppose imaginary leaders who met Amr Musa, and this is nothing but a cover up for the true objectives of the US ordered visit…

Indicting America
Scott Ritter
The indictment of I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby by Special Prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald provides the most cogent and visible evidence to date of the criminal mindset that exists inside the Bush administration regarding the decision to invade Iraq. The indictment is linked to Libby’s involvement in illegally revealing the identity of a covert CIA operative, Valerie Plame, in violation of U.S. law, and the resultant conspiracy to deny and cover up the fact that this crime had in fact taken place. But the real crime committed here is the deception leading to war carried out by the Bush administration, in particular the activities of the vice president, Dick Cheney, and his chief of staff, “Scooter” Libby, which is why they felt they needed to go after former Ambassador Joseph Wilson and his wife, Plame…

The new National Intelligence Strategy of the United States:
Towards an even more dangerous international security apparatus
Larry Chin, GlobalResearch.ca
On Wednesday, October 27, 2005, the new National Intelligence Strategy of the United States was released by the Director of National Intelligence, terrorist and war criminal John Negroponte (…) The document’s foreword, written by Negroponte, immediately states that the Strategy is based on the “new concept of ‘national intelligence’ codified by the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act passed by Congress in 2004", its origins in the “tragedy of September 11, 2001", and President George W. Bush’s National Security Strategy of the United States”. In other words, the Strategy is a strengthening and solidification of the existing Homeland/National Security apparatus into a more centralized structure (with more power and control in the hands of the Executive Branch), consolidating multiple agencies, including the CIA…

Aziz denies naming British MP in oil probe
Reuters
Former Iraqi deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz has denied telling investigators that a maverick British lawmaker personally profited from the United Nations’ oil-for-food program for Iraq. US congressional investigators said this week they had evidence that George Galloway had profited from the defunct UN program created to protect Iraqis from the harsh effects of sanctions against their Government. The report said Mr Aziz, under questioning by the subcommittee, said he had discussed oil allocations with Mr Galloway and confirmed a letter in which the British Member of Parliament requested a bigger oil allocation. “These are lies … he [Mr Aziz] denied this,” Mr Aziz’s lawyer, Badia Aref, said…

Saddam Lawyers to Seek New Delay in Trial
Agencies Arab News
Iraqi captured President Saddam Hussein’s lawyers will ask for another delay in his trial pending a full, independent investigation into the murder of a defense lawyer, an American member of the defense team said yesterday. Ramsey Clark, a former US attorney general who is part of a committee for Saddam’s defense, said the United Nations should probe the murder of Sa’adoun Al-Janabi, who was kidnapped and killed one day after the trial began on Oct.19…

Best Comment So Far

Syria: U.S. troops killed Syrian soldier
AP
A Syrian general told reporters touring the border with Iraq on Friday that U.S. forces fired across the frontier five months ago and killed a Syrian soldier during an American military operation. The Syrians organized the rare tour along the 370-mile border in an apparent attempt to mute U.S. and Iraqi criticism that Damascus had done too little to stop foreign fighters from slipping into Iraq to join the insurgency ˜ a charge Damascus has denied…

Scooter is Indicted. Yawn. Now Will Somebody Please Change the Channel?
Kurt Nimmo, Another day in the empire
Imagine if a criminal broke into your house and made off with your television, stereo, camera, and the gold coins you hid under the mattress. Imagine the cops caught him speeding away. But instead of arresting him for stealing your goods, they simply issued him a ticket for speeding. In essence, the above scenario is what happened to I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby. Scooter was busted for telling lies to the FBI and a grand jury and now has the distinction of being the first White House official in 130 years to be indicted while in office. But he is guilty of much larger crimes…
