One Year On: Gaza Steadfast and Defiant amidst a World that has lost its Humanity
Reham Alhelsi
December 27, 2009 – Today we commemorate the first anniversary of one of the most horrific Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people and against humanity in general. On this day last year, the Zionist entity with all its advanced and sophisticated weapons, paid for by the US and the EU, launched a 23-day “war” on the unarmed and besieged civilian population of the Gaza Strip. While wars are fought between armies, Occupied Palestine has no army, not in the West Bank and not in Gaza. This “war” was more of an aggression, a slaughter, a series of massacres committed within the spam of 23 days, it was genocide…

‘Mousavi nephew among Iran dead’
Aljazeera.net
December 27, 2009 – The nephew of Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi is reportedly among eight people killed in continuing clashes between police and protesters. An aide to the leader said on Sunday that Ali Mousavi died after being shot by the police, but the claim could not be independently verified as foreign news organisations are barred by the authorities from covering street unrest. Instant Karma: New US War Target Gets Its Own Terror Icon
Chris Floyd
December 27, 2009 – Wow, that didn’t take long at all. Scant days after the American war machine took the cloaking device off its direct military involvement in Yemen, we have an alleged attempted terrorist attack by an alleged attempted terrorist who, just scant hours after his capture, has allegedly confessed to getting his alleged attempted terrorist material from … wait for it … Yemen! Yemen-trained terrorists on the loose in American airplanes! At Christmas!…

‘Punish, humiliate, terrorise’
By Ben White
December 27, 2009 – As the one year anniversary of Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip is marked, it is vital to re-examine Operation Cast Lead within the wider context of Israel’s approach to both Gaza and the Palestinians. There is a danger that the scale of the devastation and the international protests which followed the war can deflect attention from the broader Israeli policies of collective punishment and deliberately-engineered socio-economic collapse. The first important part of this context for both before – and since – Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip is the crippling blockade…

Afghan resistance statement concerning thirtieth anniversary of Red Army invasion
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
December 27, 2009 – …The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan warns the American rulers and their allies, based on these facts, of U.S forces and allies quick withdrawal before the America faces the same fate befell the Soviet Union and being disintegrated itself. Now that the U.S., despite having about 100000 troops in Afghanistan, has been unable to win the war against Afghan Mujahideen over the last 8 years, it is unlikely that the America will win the war and maintain their occupation in Afghanistan even if it deploys extra 30000 troops whose soldiers have already lost morale. Therefore, it is the most sensible thing to leave Afghanistan to Afghans as it is the real home of Afghans who have witnessed the the U.S. real democracy and the nature of their false slogans…

Gaza one year ago: ‘I prayed to my god to be the first in my family to die’
by Khulood Ghanem
December 27, 2009 – I finished my work in Khan Younis at 10 o’clock, and rode a car to Gaza City. I reached there at 11. I decided to drink some coffee with my friend who was working in a company beside the legislative council and the academy for police. I stayed there till 11:30, I decided to leave, my friend told me to stay, it’s early, I stayed for 15 minutes. At 11:45 I was on my way walking in the street. I heard the first rocket, the second and the third, many quick attacks, one after one, at this moment I could see nothing, all I remember was the biggest explosion I have ever seen. I started to run away, but to where? I saw the military planes in the sky at a very low level. I was scared and started to lose consciousness…

Gaza Martyrs Back to Life
By Ola Attallah
December 27, 2009 – Although many people lost loved ones to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, waged a year from today, some have found a creative way to bring the dead back to life, at least symbolically. “We named him after his father – my son – who was killed in the first day of the Israeli war,” Mohammad Ayyad told IslamOnline.net, holding his baby grandchild in his arm. “He is the apple of his mother’s eye and the only source of hope and joy for our family,” he added fighting back his tears. The people of Gaza marked Sunday the first anniversary of the Israeli war which killed nearly 1,400 Palestinians, mostly civilians…
