A BLACK CAT IN A DARK ROOM
Malcom Lagauche
November 29, 2009 – In Britain, hearings are being held about the lies leading up to the March 2003 invasion of Iraq. At first, the commission members attempted to whitewash all the incidents. But, parents of those killed in Iraq have put enough pressure on the commission to get at least some truth out. In the past week or so, they have changed their tune and have admitted to much of what we already knew, but it’s the first time public figures of the government of Britain are telling a portion of the truth. There is so much pressure being put on them, that they have opened up subjects, albeit mostly to save their own careers. The publicity being given these hearings is loud enough that if the commission members kept on lying, their falsities would be published in every newspaper in the country. However, there is still one issue they evade: the fact that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction (WMD) since 1992…

UN Partition of Palestine
by Mazin Qumsiyeh PhD
November 29, 2009 – The UN General assembly voted 29 November 1947 to recommend partition of Palestine to give the Zionist movement control over 55% of Palestine and leave the Palestinians with 45% of Palestine. The Palestinian natives were then more than 2/3rd of the population and owned 93% of the land. Jews constituted a third of the population (most of them illegal new immigrants) who had land ownership of less than 7%. In the planned “Jewish state”, there would be almost an equal number of Christian and Muslim Palestinians as Jews. The Zionist movement accepted the idea of a Jewish state but rejected the other parts of the proposal: borders designated, Internationalization of Jerusalem, economic union, and no ethnic cleansing…

Israel’s settlements are ethnic cleansing — justice for Palestine
Stu Harrison
November 29, 2009 – The ideology of Zionism, which supports an exclusively Jewish state in historic Palestine, claims Jerusalem is the “eternal” and “indivisible” home of the Jewish people and the capital of the Jewish state of Israel. This view sees settlements as noble parts of a struggle for Jewish “self-determination”. What is covered up is that implementing this plan involves the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population who have lived on these lands for generations. Israeli human rights organisation B’tselem said Israel has tried to physically isolate East Jerusalem from the Palestinian towns in the West Bank by building the apartheid wall, stealing Palestinian land, demolishing Palestinian homes and using discriminatory planning and building policies…

The Prisoner Issue and the Israeli Arrogance
Written by Mohammed Shaker Abdallah
November 29, 2009 – There are currently 11,000 Palestinian and Arab activists suffering inside Israeli prisons and detention locations. Those people sacrificed their freedom and spent brief or lengthy imprisonment terms for the sake of independence of Palestine and the liberation of their people from Israeli occupation. Those prisoners are at the forefront of Palestinian conscience and memory. There issue has been, or should be, a top public and official priority and ahead of any agenda of negotiations held with the Israeli side…

Transcripts of interviews with former detainees held at a military jail at American air base in Afghanistan.
NYTimes
November 29, 2009 – In Kandahar City, it was 12:30 in the afternoon. I was in my pharmacy, where I was a pharmacist. I was there with my partner. The foreign forces came and took us away, my partner and I. When they came into my shop; they blindfolded my eyes, tied up my hands behind and put a hood on my head, and we were taken to somewhere. I have no idea where it was, but I think it was still in Kandahar; After two nights we were taken to Bagram. In Bagram, they took me to interrogations, and I kept asking them, ‘Why are we here, why am I detained, what was the reason?’ But they didn’t tell me why they had detained me. After seven or eight months, they said, ‘Once in your house you invited Taliban as guests and fed them so that is why we took you.” …

Iraq Inquiry bombshell: Secret letter to reveal new Blair war lies
Simon Walters
November 29, 2009 – An explosive secret letter that exposes how Tony Blair lied over the legality of the Iraq War can be revealed. The Chilcot Inquiry into the war will interrogate the former Prime Minister over the devastating ‘smoking gun’ memo, which warned him in the starkest terms the war was illegal. The Mail on Sunday can disclose that Attorney General Lord Goldsmith wrote the letter to Mr Blair in July 2002 – a full eight months before the war – telling him that deposing Saddam Hussein was a blatant breach of international law. It was intended to make Mr Blair call off the invasion, but he ignored it. Instead, a panicking Mr Blair issued instructions to gag Lord Goldsmith, banned him from attending Cabinet meetings and ordered a cover-up to stop the public finding out…

Israeli war criminal welcomed in Australian
by Sonja Karkar
November 29, 2009 – The news that former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was in Australia and was welcomed by the honourable members of our parliament came as somewhat of a shock. It is one thing to have allowed a man on corruption charges as well as facing war crimes indictments into Australia at all; it is another thing that he was listed as a distinguished guest in Hansard – the official record of parliamentary proceedings – and received a resounding “hear, hear” from our elected representatives. This is, after all, the man who approved the genocidal attack on the 1.5 million imprisoned and defenceless Palestinians in Gaza less than a year ago…

The Geopolitics Of The Dubai Debt Crisis: It’s Iran vs. The United States
John Carney
November 29, 2009 – The role of Iran may be the most overlooked in the Dubai debt crisis. Of all the states of the United Arab Emirates federation, Dubai has maintained the closest ties to Iran. Indeed, as international pressure has built on Iran over the past decade, Dubai has prospered from those ties. It provides critical banking and trade links for Iran, often serving as the go-between for European or Asian companies and financial firms that want to do business with Iran without violating international sanctions. Abu Dhabi, the wealthiest member of the UAE and a close ally of the US, may be pressuring Dubai to limit its links to Iran…

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Plight
By Bianca Zammit* and Fadi Skaik**
November 29, 2009 – There are currently approximately 11,000 Palestinian prisoners being held captive in Israeli jails across Israel. Whilst their imprisonment is of itself in direct contravention of international law, the whole arrest, judiciary and imprisonment process compromises their basic human rights. In Gaza, the families of prisoners in Israeli jails meet every Monday at the premises of the International Committee of the Red Cross to hold a weekly vigil asking for the release of Palestinian prisoners. The demonstration also takes place at the ICRC building in order to send out a message to the international community, asking it to uphold international law and put pressure on Israel for the release of all prisoners…

Naama Lanir
November 29, 2009 – Former Meretz leader Shulamit Aloni told Ynet on her 81st birthday Sunday that she was dissatisfied with the condition of the State of Israel. “It’s hard for me to say a kind word about the state today,” she said. “We are in great distress morally and socially, as well as in the realms of politics and law.”…She also condemned those opposed to a prisoner swap deal for the release of Gilad Shalit. “No one should be speaking this nonsense about ‘blood on the hands’. Since 2000, with the launching of the second intifada, we have murdered thousands. We too have blood on our hands,” she remarked…

Memo: Honduras State Employees Forced to Attend Santos Campaign Rally
By Al Giordano (with reporting from Tamar Sharabi in Honduras)
November 29, 2009 – While today’s coup-sponsored “election” in Honduras won’t settle the country’s crisis created by the June 28 coup d’etat, it continues to provide a showcase for the profoundly anti-democratic nature of the regime. This just in from Tamar Sharabi, reporting from Honduran territory: Evidence has surfaced that state employees were forced to attend the closing campaign ceremony of Elvin Santos, the ex-Vice President under Zelaya. In the letter, addressed to all department heads of the office of Civil Service, general director Marco Tulio Flores wrote, “I instruct all employees that are fulfilling their duties, without any exception, to attend the closing campaign of the Liberal Party that will take place Sunday November 22 at 9:30am. Ahmad: The Palestinian people reject partition today as they did 62 years ago
Palestinian Information Center
November 29, 2009 – The head of Hamas’s refugee department, Husam Ahmad, said that the conspiracy in 1947 which lead to the adoption of the partition resolution (181) aimed to legitimise the Balfour declaration. In a press statement on Sunday Ahmad said that 62 years on this conspiracy has not stopped, as those international parties behind are very much interested today in keeping the Palestinians disunited so that they could impose their own political agenda which does not coincide with the Palestinian people’s aspirations. He added that the partition resolution was effectively an extension of Sykes-Picot Agreement which divided the Arab world into statelets and that the division of Palestine aimed to create a fertile ground for the Zionist project…

Climate change: this is the worst scientific scandal of our generation
Christopher Booker
November 29, 2009 – A week after my colleague James Delingpole, on his Telegraph blog, coined the term “Climategate” to describe the scandal revealed by the leaked emails from the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit, Google was showing that the word now appears across the internet more than nine million times. But in all these acres of electronic coverage, one hugely relevant point about these thousands of documents has largely been missed…
