After US Withdrew From Iraqi Cities What Is Next?
Amr Taha, Staff Writer-IslamOnline.net
…Iran clearly supports the occupation. Iranian officials have stated that the United States would not have been able to occupy Iraq should not be for the Iranian implicit support. Major political groups and parties in Iraq are tightly interrelated to Iran in political, financial, and strategic terms. Iran finances the Islamic Dawa Party, the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, what is called Hizbollah of Iraq, and many other Shiite parties in order to implement the Iranian agenda in Iraq. We could face the prospect of an Iranian-backed Shiite Fatimid-like state in Iraq. Iranian strategists are speaking about the “Shiite Lake”, which includes oil and gas-rich provinces of Abadan, Al-Basra, and the eastern section of the Saudi Arabia. Three months ago, Iran prudently stated that Bahrain and the three disputed over islands of the United Arab Emirates belong to Iran. Arab countries’ reluctance to actively engage in Iraq has left the vacuum for Iran to freely fill by imposing its policy in the occupied country. Actually, under the table, the United States and Iran are maneuvering a political game. There is American-Iranian coordination in Iraq, especially after Obama has prioritized peaceful dialogue with Iran..

Lunatics…
Layla Anwar, Uncensored Arabwomanblues
All talk about the 40th anniversary of Moon Landing, Moon Walking, Mooning… Excuse me but who gives a fuck ? I certainly don’t. […]You walked on the moon and you raped the earth…You have done nothing in your short stupid history but terrorise and create more problems for the world, you and your stinking European Masters. If you were a half way decent country and people, instead of spending billions of dollars “conquering” outer space, stop your “conquests” here on earth and go and remedy the ills that you have not ceased creating with your billions of dollars, war and death industry. Instead of “conquering” outer space, contemplate its infinity and your position in this universe, how inconsequential you are, how infinitesimally small you are, in the grand scheme of things, how irrelevant you are, in the large pattern of the Cosmos…

Bribery Buys Iraq Jobs
By Afif Sarhan, IOL Correspondent
After three fruitless years of looking for a job, Ahmed was advised by his cousin to pay a visit to a “job dealer” who would easily land him a government job. “After many useless tries, I realized that the best way to get a decent job was to pay for it,” he told IslamOnline.net. “So, I sold our marriage rings and raised the necessary money to become a government employee.” Ahmed, a 32-year-old father of four, paid the “job dealer” US $300 to get a government job…

Taliban post gains in Afghan north
By Abdul Latif Sahak/Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan
While British and US forces concentrate their efforts in southern Afghanistan, the once-peaceful north is fast spiralling out of control with the Taliban making a number of important gains. In the town of Chahrdara in Kunduz province, for example, a recent visitor reported that the Taliban have set up their own administration rivaling that of the local government, complete with tax collection and a court system. The northern provinces – Balkh, Kunduz, Jowzjan, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul and Baghlan – have seen a surge in violence over the last few months, with suicide attacks, armed assaults and roadside bombs. While American and British forces clearly have their hands full in the south, experts are warning that they ignore the north at their own peril…

Clinton Ally Lobbies for Honduran Coup
TheRealNews.com
As negotiations fail to resolve the Honduran political crisis, influential lobbyists – like lawyer Lanny Davis, a close friend of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – are arguing the case for the coup leaders. So far, the lobbying appears to be working as the Obama administration refrains from imposing economic penalties against the coup government that ousted elected President Manuel Zelaya last month…

Guantanamo closure plan hits snag
Aljazeera.net
A panel ordered by Barack Obama to develop new US policy on the detention of so-called terrorism suspects as part of his effort to shut the Guantanamo prison has delayed its report to the president by six months. Aides to Obama said the task force would miss the administration’s self imposed Tuesday deadline for offering the president a list of recommendations on the future of the detention centre. But administration officials said they were on track to deliver on Obama’s pledge to shut down the prison in Cuba by January…

Desmond Tutu and other Nobel Peace Laureates, Iranian Poets and Artists Support July 25th Global Day of Action
United4Iran
“We deplore the violence and crackdown on peaceful protesters, the increasing restrictions on civil liberties, and the imprisonment of a growing number of civil leaders in Iran.” Archbishop Destmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Laureate, 1984. “If one country sincerely wants to support democracy in another country that is under dictatorial rule, the only thing to do is to support the freedom fighters who stand for the democratic institutions of that country. Done this way, the sapling of democracy will bear the flower of freedom.” Shirin Ebadi, Iranian human rights activist, Nobel Peace Laureate, 2003. “The Iranian leadership is violating the country’s own commitments to international human rights treaties, as well as contravening Iran’s own laws.” Mairead Maguire, Nobel Peace Laureate, 1976…

Degrading treatment of an arrested 16 year old boy in Hebron
freedetainees.org
On Monday the 13th of July around 4:30 pm Jamil (age 16) was stopped by four soldiers of the Israeli Occupation Forces approximately 150 meter from his house. The soldiers commanded him to show his identity papers and confirmed that everything was in order, but still refused to let him go. Jamil believes that his detention was the result of his family’s activities with B’tselem. After 15 minutes, Jamil’s mother and cousin came to see what was happening to him. When he explained his mistreatment, one of the soldiers told him, that he should ’shut up’ or they would ‘fuck him’. In the same degrading manner, they prevented the mother from asking for the reason of her son’s detention…

Andy Worthington

Too soon to talk of sanctions over settlements: US
AFP
Washington believes it is too early to talk about imposing sanctions on Israel to force it to freeze settlement building in east Jerusalem, a State Department spokesman said Tuesday. “It’s premature to talk about that,” said spokesman Robert Wood when asked about the possibility of US financial sanctions. “What we are trying to do, as I said right now, is to create an environment which makes it conducive for talks to go forward,” he added…

Family Planning: “Totalitarians for God” Spread Poison Web
Chris Floyd
In a new piece for Salon.com, Jeff Sharlet has more on the domestic side of the militarist-fundamentalist drive to devour the state, which we wrote about here yesterday. Sharlet writes of “The Family” — the self-described “Christian Mafia” centered on the “C Street House” in Washington — which for decades has spread its invisible, insidious influence throughout the U.S. government, while supporting mass-murdering dictators, rapacious crony capitalism — and providing convenient cover and absolution for the high crimes and sexual misdemeanors of its members…
