ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH !!!!
Layla Anwar, An Arab Woman Blues
Ya’nee what the fuck is happening to the world ? I can’t believe my eyes. The President of Sudan is charged with Genocide in Darfur and Bush and the American scum are let off the hook? Over 1 million dead, 3 million maimed for life, 3 million widows, 5 million orphans, 5 million refugees, over 150'000 detainees, homes destroyed, massive ethnic cleansing, unprecedented torture and rape in the history of mankind, summary executions and arrests, billions of dollars stolen, antiquities and oil plundered, an economy in shambles, a 70% unemployement rate, walled ghettoes, use of illegal weapons – DU, napalm, White Phosphorus, Cluster bombs, thousands of tons of bombs, robotic weapons, physical deformities, use of Iranian militias, drills, physical mutilation, desecrating religious sites, pissing on corpses, arresting and imprisoning children, sodomizing kids, raping and burning women alive, insults, humiliation and slurs of Iraqis in their own country, on their own turf…and more…and more —all under an ILLEGAL OCCUPATION, not to mention the dungeon called Guantanamo…

The MoD blames ‘a few bad apples’. I blame the MoD
Phil Shiner, Independent
Baha Mousa died of 93 injuries. For the 36 hours this 26-year-old Iraqi survived in British detention, he was hooded, deprived of sleep, food and water, and forced to maintain the “ski” stress position. Hassan, 14, was forced to give a man oral sex and maintain a prolonged simulated sex position. The watching soldiers laughed out loud. The MoD wants us to believe these were isolated incidents in Iraq and that the “few bad apples” thesis prevails… There are a growing number of other cases in the English courts concerning killings, torture, and the use of these interrogation techniques by the British in Iraq. One of these concerns allegations that, in 2004, 20 Iraqis were executed and another nine tortured in detention at Naji. Another concerns five Iraqis abused and hooded as recently as April 2007…

USA President and Vice President charged with genocide in Iraq
A satirical look at today’s Associated Press bullshit and the real deal
June Terpstra, Press Writer and Editor, Liberation Central
The People’s Collective of the International Criminal Court for Liberation Central filed genocide charges Monday against the President and Vice President of the United States of America, accusing them of masterminding attempts to wipe out the people of Iraq with a campaign of murder, rape and torture. The filing marked the first time the people, not the elites and their puppet presidents and prime ministers have established a permanent, global war crimes court to counter the Kangaroo Court established in the Netherlands after WWII. The people have issued charges against the talking heads of state but Bush and Cheney are unlikely to be put on trial any time soon. The USA rejects the court’s jurisdiction, and senior US officials said the people were politically motivated to file the charges in an attempt to stop the murders, tortures, rapes and thefts of the US invasion and occupation…

Sami Al-Arian: From Exoneration to Criminal Indictment
Stephen Lendman
A personal note. I’ve twice before written about Al-Arian and discussed his case on my radio program with his wife and daughter. Since February 20, 2003, he’s been unjustly imprisoned. The FBI hounded him for 11 years. It falsely accused him of backing organizations fronting for Palestinian Islamic Jihad – a 1997 State Department-designated “Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).” It’s one of 30 organizations so-designated that year. In 1999, three were removed. Another was added in 2001 for a total of 28. Sixteen of them are Arabic/Muslim and include Hamas, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda. Their ideologies differ from western standards. Washington thus calls them FTOs that “engage in terrorist activity (and) threaten the security of US nationals or the national security of the US.”…

7/13 Digest Overview “Why US Won’t Attack Iran” Korean Massacre Nazi Eugenics Made-in-USA DHS’ Stunning Jewelry

From many angles we hear the U.S. war described as a “war for oil”. Left variations of this slimey obfuscation blame ‘the war on Iraq’ on: the current administration, emphasis on Bush/Cheney connections to ‘big oil’; domestic consumption; “peak oil”, diminishing production levels and resources; ‘supply and demand’ problem caused by OPEC, Nigeria, China and ‘population growth’ in ‘third world’. Pretending Bush is the root of the crisis, a fascist rabble-rousing figurehead selected by the ruling class, not the capitalist-imperialist system. Why scrupulously bury the truth? (…) Where does oil fit into the big picture? Bush, oil, capitalist bubbles bursting in air’ are symptoms not the root causes of the crisis. This political-economic system is a dictatorship of finance capital, home-based, globally operative, ‘globalized’ capitalism, e.g. imperialism (… ) CONTROLLING IRAQ’S OIL IS THE FIRST, CRITICAL, STEP TOWARDS U.S. ULTIMATE GOAL. GLOBAL DOMINATION DEPENDS ON DESTROYING ARAB NATIONALIST RESISTANCE TO GAIN CONTROL OF MIDEAST ENERGY RESOURCES NECESSARY FOR STRATEGIC POLITICAL POWER LEVERAGE OVER FRIENDS AS WELL AS ENEMIES…

No agreement is expected to be signed with the current U.S. administration – Iraqi cabinet’s spokesperson
Voices of Iraq
The Iraqi cabinet’s spokesperson on Monday expected that the long-term security agreement between Iraq and the U.S. would not be signed by the end of July 2008. He estimated that this issue would be postponed until a new U.S. president is sworn into the White House. “There is a large possibility of postponing the signing of the long-term agreement between Iraq and the U.S., until a new U.S. administration is elected,” Dr. Ali al-Dabbagh told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI)…

Maliki’s Arabic word and waiting for Obama
Roads to Iraq
Sources told the newspaper about the reason behind Maliki’s change of position from pushing the public to accept the SOFA agreement, to rejecting the agreement, which is the U.S. politics and Obama’s “sure” victory in the U.S. presidential election. The newspaper reported this: It is a step before Obama’s arrival to the White House, surprised even the Iraqi political blocs. I think Maliki’s bargain is to make a “better” security deal with Obama in the future…

U.S. terrorism watch list tops 1 million
Randall Mikkelsen
A U.S. watch list of terrorism suspects has passed 1 million records, corresponding to about 400,000 people, and a leading civil rights group said on Monday the number was far too high to be effective. The Bush administration disagreed and called the list one of the most effective tools implemented after the September 11 hijacked plane attacks — when a federal “no-fly” list contained just 16 people considered threats to aviation. The American Civil Liberties Union publicized the 1 million milestone with a news conference and release…

More than 1 in 10 Army Recruits Now Given “Moral Waivers”
Greg Mitchell
It has been rumored for some time that the U.S. Army has had to lower its standards to get enough recruits for its expanded war-fighting needs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now firm evidence has emerged, and it is not pretty. For instance: The percentage of Army recruits receiving “moral conduct” waivers jumped from 4.6 percent in 2003 to 11.2 percent in 2007. Many of them in this group have criminal backgrounds, yet are still allowed in the military, to carry a gun and engage in what is essentially “police work” in Iraq…

Will Israel attack Iran? Consider the source.
Blake Hounshell
Over the weekend, Drudge and a good chunk of the blogosphere linked credulously to this story in The Times of London, written by one Uzi Mahnaimi. The story alleges that U.S. President George W. Bush has given Israel an “amber light” to attack Iran, according to a “senior Pentagon official.” (…) The alarmism isn’t entirely Mahnaimi’s fault, since editors usually choose headlines. But our friend Uzi has a track record of breathless stories about alleged Israeli preparations to attack Iran. Here’s one from January 2007 (using tactical nukes!), and another from December 2005. Or we could go back to July 2004… The real story here is that the Israelis have developed plans to hit Iran’s nuclear facilities — did anyone think they hadn’t? — but the United States (correctly) thinks it’s a bad idea…

STOP THE DENIGRATION
Malcom Lagauche
Wow, we now have a new big issue in the U.S. presidential campaign. For the past couple of weeks, the big news has been who is the better Christian, McCain or Obama. Both have renounced former pastors and are trying to out-Christian each other. At least they have not been suckered into talking about mundane issues such as the economy, war, or the environment. Now, The New Yorker magazine has supplied everyone with the biggest issue of the campaign. The cover of its July 21st issue is a satirical look at how Obama opponents have lied about him and his wife. The Obamas are depicted using all the false stereotypes thrust on them. At first, I thought, “What an excellent political statement.” But, my conclusion seems to be wrong. There is an outrage calling the illustration racist and bigoted. The opposition to the cover is not coming from the bigots to which it is aimed. It is coming from Obama and his supporters. Enough is enough. I was wrong on this one, so I began to call in some markers from inside sources and lay bare other publications that are in the process of publishing denigrating trash…

WHY WAS MOHAMMED OMER THE VICTIM OF ISRAELI TERROR?
Desertpeace
The answer is simple… Mohammed says what the zionists don’t want him to say. He speaks the truth on behalf of a million and a half ‘voiceless’ citizens of Gaza. The truth is the biggest enemy of zionism so they attempted to silence him. The state of Israel has rendered them voiceless in order to continue with the holocaust against their nation… a holocaust that they wish would remain unnoticed and kept silent about…

Iran decries contacts between Syria and ‘illegitimate’ Israel
Haaretz Service and News Agencies
Iran is unhappy about ongoing indirect talks between Syria and Israel
and believes that any ensuing peace agreement would lead to radical changes in Syrian-Iranian relations, an Iranian official said in remarks published Monday. Short Story: The President’s State
Samah Sabawi
Once upon a time, in a land called Occupied, there lived people who yearned to have a State of their own. Two powerful scoundrels wanted to control these people and divert their quest for statehood – so they came up with a plan. ‘We heard about your desire to have a State of your own and we can help,” they told the people of Occupied. “We have created an extraordinary process that will lead to the establishment of a State so amazing and so large, but it is one that only peaceful and smart people can see. In fact our State is invisible to anyone who is too stupid, radical, extremist or incompetent to appreciate its quality.’…

Iran Red Lines
Laura Rozen, Mother Jones
While the Israeli government considers the Bush administration highly sympathetic and sensitive to its security concerns, there are growing signs that Washington and Jerusalem may be diverging in their analysis of the urgency of the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program and its defensive military preparations for countering a possible strike, and their subsequent prospective timelines for considering possible military action against Iran. While Israeli national security experts say that Israel would not act without coordinating with the US, and there are other significant factors weighing against prospective Israeli military action on Iran before the Bush term ends, there are also emerging differences between the US and Israel on the accepted intelligence over when Iran would be considered to have a nuclear breakthrough, as well as what would constitute a “redline” that would prompt military action, Washington analysts say..
