Iraq Study Group: Re-evaluate Iraq policy? Try this!
Truth About Iraqis
The farcical Iraq Study Group, also known as the Baker Commission, has produced nothing. It has come up entirely empty. It suggests reconciliation when Baghdad is split down the middle. It says: “The situation in Iraq is grave and deteriorating. There is no path that can guarantee success, but the prospects can be improved.” They needed a year-long commission to come out with this crap? What an insult to every drop of innocent Iraqi blood shed (…) So here is my Iraq Study Group analysis. First, the facts: 1. Iraq has been invaded and occupied by a brutal dictatorship in Washington with the intent to debilitate and destroy, not democratize Iraq. 2. Iraq is in the throes of civil war precisely because of US action/inaction. 3. The presence of US troops has hastened the likelihood of a civil war, not protected Iraqis from it. 4. The government in power in Baghdad is illegitimate because it was brought to power through illegal means. 5. The so-called democratic elections are anything but and are null and void. 6. Saddam Hussein is the legitimate President of the Republic of Iraq. 7. The current Iraqi army is not an army but a heavily-armed, uniformed militia. 8. The Iraqi army is the army that was disbanded in April 2003. 9. The Iraqi people are the heroes of this conflict. The US military, with all its personnel directly up to the chief of staff are criminals, barbaric, nazi-like and should stand trial as in Nuremberg…

Israeli Truce Means: More Houses & Agricultural Structures Demolished!
Sabbah’s blog
This is some of what Israel and the mainstream media don’t want you to see (…) The final house demolition was by far the worst. It was extremely traumatic for the family involved. The soldiers tried to prevent internationals passing, pointing their guns at us. It was unclear which of the two houses the bulldozers were aiming for. Outside the first house there were several women, gathering up their young children, petrified. I thought of my sister. And my beautiful niece. We had our brief moment of opportunity and dived in the house with the women and children, locking ourselves in. It was then that we became aware of what was happening in the next house. A family up on the roof, hysterical in their grief. Four internationals stayed with the women, three of us dodged the soldiers and joined the family on the roof of their semi constructed house. I will never forgot the agony of that family…

‘Many women’ languish in U.S., Iraqi jails
Azzaman
An Iraqi female minister has urged the ministries of interior and defense as well the U.S. occupation troops to apply international law procedures when dealing jailed women in Iraq. The call from Minister of State Fatin Mahmoud is the first official admission that that the number of incarcerated Iraqi women is increasing and that their conditions are worsening. Mahmoud’s revelation contradicts earlier Iraqi and U.S. reports that there were no women in their jails in the country. Mahamoud declined to give a figure of the number of Iraqi women behind bars but doubted whether the jailers were applying basic human rights in their dealings with them…

Letter from the Iraqi tribal leaders from all over Iraq; south, north, and middle
Albasrah.net
Dear congressmen of the Democratic Party, We, the Iraqi tribal leaders from all over Iraq; south, north, and middle, represents the majority of Iraqi people from all religions, sects, and origins. We would to express our denouncing the death sentence against the legal president of Iraq H.E. Saddam Hussein, for the following reasons: The court has no legality, and it is established by Bremer, the American civil governor of the occupied Iraq, and you know that the International laws prevent the occupier from changing the laws and the economical systems of the country under occupation, and Iraq is still an occupied country according to the UN resolutions and laws…

WAR NEWS FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 06, 2006
Today in Iraq
Four bodies were pulled from the Tigris River south of the capital. Gunmen have kidnapped the Sunni head of one of Iraq’s leading soccer clubs. Hadib Majhoul, the chairman of the popular Talaba club and a member of the Iraqi Soccer Federation, was seized late Thursday by gunmen in two cars who intercepted him while he was going to work. Police confirmed that Majhoul was kidnapped in northern Baghdad but did not elaborate, citing concerns for his safety. A roadside bomb exploded near a police patrol in east Baghdad but caused no casualties. Up to five mortar rounds landed in the central district of Midan, killing 10 people and wounding 54 others. In the Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City, a suicide bomber with an explosives belt detonated inside a minibus, killing three passengers and wounding 16…

Gatefold: Doormats of the World, Unite!
Chris Floyd
This is your new-style, reinvigorated, hard-charging, tough-talking, speaking-truth-to-power, practicing-vigorous-oversight gaggle of Senate Democrats in action one month after their historic triumph at the polls: Senate approves Gates as defense secretary (CNN) By a vote of 95-2, the Senate approved President Bush’s defense secretary nominee Wednesday, a day after the nomination sailed through the Armed Services Committee. Robert Gates was confirmed by the Senate Armed Services Committee 24-0 on Tuesday. No significant opposition to Gates’ nomination surfaced during the confirmation process. I know, I know: the Democrats haven’t yet taken the reins of power in Congress. Obviously, the vote would have been much different if they had waited until January. It would have been 96-1, because Rick Santorum (one of the two Republican Rummy-worshippers who opposed Gates) wouldn’t be there…

Statistics released by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, says that more than 200 university professor were killed since the American invasion in April 2003, professors who left the country are 3000…

NO RIGHT OF RETURN…NO RIGHT OF ENTRY/RE-ENTRY

Olmert talks big… usually with ‘forked tongue’ as the Native Americans said of the White folks way back when… Olmert promises Statehood… Olmert promises return of occupied lands… Olmert promises promises promises. In plain simple English… Olmert is a liar! The following press release shows what the real Olmert is… what the real government of Israel is… it’s not a pretty picture…

Democrat Senator Calls for 30,000 More Troops to be Sent into the Iraqi Meat Grinder
Kurt Nimmo, Another Day in the Empire
As the so-called Iraq Study Group “recommendations” hit the street, dubiously entitled “The Way Forward: A New Approach,” Texan Democrat, soon-to-be chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Silvestre Reyes, has called for sending more “dumb, stupid animals,” as Henry Kissinger once fondly called our soldiers, into the Iraqi meat grinder. Reyes “wants to see an increase of 20,000 to 30,000 U.S. troops,” according to Newsweek. “We have to consider the need for additional troops to be in Iraq, to take out the militias and stabilize Iraq … We certainly can’t leave Iraq and run the risk that it becomes [like] Afghanistan,” apparently a reference to the presence of “al-Qaeda” and the Taliban, both created by the CIA and Pakistan’s ISI…

Israel destroys homes of Palestinian Bedouins
Albawaba
The Israeli interior minister, Roni Bar-On, declared that his ministry has planned the demolition of more than 42,000 homes of Palestinian Bedouins that were built even before 1948 when Israel was proclaimed. The minister, speaking at a session for the Israeli parliament’s interior committee, claimed that all those houses were “illegal” and warned that any new homes built in the so-called “unrecognized” villages in the Negev desert would be razed.

Don’t Cry for me, “Mrs. Talabani”
Hussein Al-alak, The Iraq Solidarity Campaign
It was with much joy, that I received the news from journalist and Iraq expert Felicity Arbuthnot, that silent “human rights” British envoy to Iraq Anne Clwyd MP and former chairperson of the Campaign Against Repression and for Democratic Rights in Iraq (CARDRI), had lost her job as chairperson of the Parliamentary Labour Party. Losing the title to a Former Foreign Office minister, who has opposed the war on Iraq, tuition fees and reforms in the NHS, Tony Lloyd MP defeated Ann Clwyd in a vote of Labour MPs by a margin of 169 to 156, with a 92 per cent turn out for the vote…

An Open Letter to the New Congress – Investing in Hate: America’s Support of Israel
William A. Cook , Atlantic Free Press
One might hope that the newly elected Democrats that constitute the majority in both houses would be able to think for themselves on the issue of Israeli apartheid and not be led by the prejudicial opinion of their presumed House leader. Pelosi’s statement denies the reality that exists in Israel now on two counts: first, she denies the reality of the present government in Israel because with Olmert’s acceptance of Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beiteinu party into his government, he, and therefore his government, has acknowledged what this man and his party endorse, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their land and the denial of citizenship of Palestinians living in Israel; secondly, she denies the reality of the Jewish state’s “Declaration of Independence,” as noted by Dr. Uri Davis in his work, Apartheid Israel, “The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel – known as Israel’s Declaration of Independence – does not declare Israel an independent State, nor does it declare Israel a sovereign State, it rather declares Israel a Jewish State … the Jewish State in the political Zionist sense of the term was to be an apartheid state.”…

NBC: 10 U.S. servicemembers killed in Iraq
The Associated Press
Ten American servicemembers were killed in two improvised explosive device attacks in Iraq on Wednesday, NBC News reported. The news came hours after a mortar attack killed at least eight people and wounded dozens in the Sadr City Shiite district of the capital, police said. In the 10 American deaths, five troops were killed in the north, and five were killed in Anbar province, a U.S. military official told NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski. No further details were immediately available…

The Iraq Study Group’s Recommendations
New York Times
Recommends that the White House announce a plan for American forces to begin pulling back, whether the Iraqis are ready or not, to signal to the Iraqis that Washington will not prop up the Iraqi government with military forces endlessly. Calls for a gradual pullback of the 15 American combat brigades now in Iraq, starting next year and ending by the first quarter of 2008. Afterward, American combat forces could be deployed “only in units embedded with Iraqi forces.” While numbers are still approximate, phased withdrawal of combat troops over the next year would leave 70,000 to 80,000 American troops in the country, compared with about 150,000 now, for a long time to come…

Breakthrough in US-Iranian relations on Iraq and the nuclear issue ?
Arablinks.blogspot.com
There are at least two reports this morning about a relationship between the Hakim-Bush visit and the overall US-Iran relationship. Al-Hayat cites Washington sources who said Hakim delivered to Bush a letter from the Iranian president Ahmedinejad, but the only information about the content is that Iran proposes that the US acknowledge that Iran has a role to play in Iraq. The reporter then goes on to say that Hakim suggested he could be an intermediary between Washington and Tehran…

Taliban repel British assault in south Afghanistan
Peter Graff, Reuters
British Marines attacked a Taliban-held valley in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday but withdrew after a ferocious counterattack that withstood air strikes and artillery fire, witnesses said. One Royal Marine was killed and a second wounded during the battle, the UK Helmand Task Force (UKTF) said. Scores of soldiers ran across a bridge over the Helmand River under a full moon shortly before daybreak and began sweeping south through wheatfields in the south of the province, the opium centre of the world’s major producer. A Reuters cameraman said the Marines initially faced only sporadic resistance but when they advanced, Taliban fighters launched a ferocious, organised riposte with heavy weapons and tried to outflank the British troops. The Taliban withstood barrages of air strikes from Apache helicopters, 500 pound bombs dropped by B1 bombers and withering cannon fire from A-10 attack jets before the British finally withdrew after a 10-hour battle…

Letter from President Saddam Hussein to Presiding Judge of the Second Trials Panel
Saddam Hussein
The Presiding Judge of the Second Trials Panel. After your repeated, deliberate offenses against the defense lawyers and against the so-called “defendants”, including restraining them in order to prevent them from saying the truth and from clarifying the realities, while at the same time you allow other titles and parties to make slanders, such as the statement of the “lawyer” of the civil plaintiff who argued claiming that there are ten billion dollars which have been seized by the Americans, as if these amounts belong personally to officials of our government or leadership, perhaps that Saddam Hussein is the one who has the largest share or the heaviest scale, as he tried to portray that to the public opinion –may disappointment and fie be upon him -. When I tried to illustrate the truth and I raised my hand three times, I was not given a chance to speak. For this, I would like to inform you that my spirit is disgusted at such continued abuses from you and from others, and that I cannot accept them…

US and Israel Targeting DNA in Gaza? The DIME Bomb: Yet another genotoxic weapon, Part II
James Brooks, Al-Jazeerah
“Horrific” wounds in Gaza may be warfare of the future. In early July, shortly after the beginning of Israel’s bloody military siege of the Gaza Strip, reports began to appear that Israeli forces were using a new weapon that inflicted strange and untreatable wounds, and significantly increased the death tolls of Israel’s attacks. Italian investigators have reported evidence that the unidentified Israeli weapon is probably Dense Inert Metal Explosives, or DIME, a so-called LCD (”low collateral damage”) weapon developed by the United States Air Force. DIME bombs blast a superheated “micro-shrapnel” of powdered heavy metal tungsten alloy (HMTA). Studies indicate that HMTA embedded in the body disrupts biochemistry and rapidly causes cancer. Like depleted uranium (DU), HMTA is genotoxic—it is capable of inflicting genetic mutations…

Iraq: One by one, they tell the truth
Independent
Colin Powell: After telling the UN assembly in 2003 that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, the former Secretary of State admitted in May 2004 the claims were “inaccurate and wrong and, in some cases, deliberately misleading”. Zalmay Khalilzad : Contradicting the usually upbeat rhetoric, the US ambassador in Iraq said in March: “We have opened a Pandora’s box”. And unless the violence abated, Iraq would “make Taliban Afghanistan look like child’s play”…

Political humor of the day
Eli Stephens, Left I on the News
The New York Times reports: The White House has resisted the idea of widening its own diplomatic channels with Iran and Syria, saying that even opening a regular dialogue would be a concession to two governments suspected of fomenting violence in Iraq. Because fomenting violence in Iraq is our job, goddammit!
