400 Iraqis Killed Daily in Baghdad Alone, Dividing it into Shi’i East and Sunni West, Most of the Exiled Opportunists Returned to London After Completing their Mission
Hassan El-Najjar
The following is a summary translation of three articles published today by the London-based Arabic newspaper, Al-Quds Al-Arabi. Al-Jazeerah Editor has felt compelled to publish this summary to attract attention of officials, editors, journalists, and readers everywhere, particularly in the United States, to the fact that that they have not been informed by corporate media about what is really going on in Iraq. The first article is about a study conducted by the Iraqi Southern Research Center for Strategic Planning. It mentions that about 400 Iraqis are killed daily in Baghdad alone. The killing is sectarian aiming at cleansing East Baghdad from Sunnis and West Baghdad from Shi’is (…) What’s going on in Iraq is horrible. The truth has been shielded from the American people. The corporate media has been collaborating with Rumsfeld about how good the war was going. They portrayed the war in Iraq as if it is caused by Alqaeda non-Iraqi fighters. They disinformed the American and European people. What’s happening in Iraq now is neither a civil war, nor sectarian violence. Rather, it is ethnic cleansing blunt and ugly. It is part of a plan to partition Iraq into Shi’i, Sunni, and Kurdish mini states.

Paralytic Apocalypse.
Layla Anwar
I have been feeling numb lately. I get phones calls, I hear the news, I watch pictures,I read articles and I remain unmoved. Visitors pass by and recount to me horror stories and I just stare at them. I nod and blink my eyes but when I open my mouth to speak , the words are stuck somewhere deep in my throat.
I am past being shocked anymore. I have resigned myself to this state of paralysis. Ghost cities like Baghdad with its pools of blood dont affect me .Raped little girls are part of my daily scenery. An unknown limb lying in the street is not even an object of curiosity. Smashed jaws, teeth, eyes, nails pulled out are nothing but sentences for me, anonymous black and white images .
Barren towns, abandoned children, families executed, hospitals raided , lethal injections given to those belonging to the wrong sect are routine. And routine gets deadly boring…

Shias Too Lose Faith in Iraqi Govt
Dahr Jamail and Ali al-Fadhily
The noisy demonstration that greeted Iraqi Prime Minister Noori al-Maliki on his visit to Sadr City last week was more than just a protest. It meant that the leader of a Shia-dominated government was being rejected by an angry and influential group of Shias. Maliki’s heavily guarded convoy was pelted with stones and with shoes — a grave insult in Iraq. And this happened in a Shia area. About 60 percent of the 25 million population of Iraq is Shia, and Shia leaders now dominate government. The government faces increasingly more aggressive opposition from Sunni groups who feel persecuted…

The destruction of Jose Padilla
Stephen Soldz
The New York Times today gives a glimpse of the systematic destruction of a human being as they describe the routine treatment of U.S. citizen Jose Padilla, held for years without charges as an “enemy combatant” until the government, on the eve of a crucial court hearing challenging their ability to hold him without charges, decided to charge him after all. The Times article describes the total isolation he was held in for three and a half years, before being charged (…) Rather than any necessity to control him, Jose Padilla experienced the total isolation that is at the core of the U.S. government’s decades-under-development program of psychological torture. According to Padilla’s attorneys: “his interrogations… included hooding, stress positions, assaults, threats of imminent execution and the administration of ‘truth serums.’”…

Tomgram: Fiddling While Baghdad Burns

Finally, the President and the New York Times agree. In a news conference with the Iraqi Prime Minister last week, George W. Bush insisted that there would be no “graceful exit” or withdrawal from Iraq; that this was not “realism.” The next day the Times, in a front page piece (as well as “analysis” inside the paper) pointed out that, “despite a Democratic election victory this month that was strongly based on antiwar sentiment, the idea of a major and rapid withdrawal seems to be fading as a viable option.”…

Green Zone Iraqis cheer as Abeer is raped
Truth About Iraqis
O you Iraqis of the Green Zone. All you false Iraqis earning greenbacks as your sisters are raped and your brothers are hanged. Where is your honor? In the Philippines, a US soldier rapes a girl and is put on trial IN MANILA. In Iraq, several US soldiers rape a girl, burn her body, butcher her family and try and hide the fact and you cannot even request they be put on trial in Iraq. And then you cheer the trial of Saddam. We will cheer your trials in the streets of Baghdad, Najaf, Mosul, Ramadi, Hiyt and Basra…

Nine U.S. troops died in Iraq during the weekend, including five killed by roadside bombs, the U.S. military reported Sunday. Two soldiers were killed and two wounded Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in northern Iraq. 50 bodies were found in Baghdad. Thirty-five of the bodies were uncovered in Karkh, a majority Sunni district on the west bank of the Tigris, while the remaining 15 were found in Rusafa, a mainly Shiite area on the eastern side of the river yesterday. “Some of the bodies showed signs of torture,” according to the police…

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Sunday, 3 December 2006
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice
…In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces arrested two children of an Iraqi Resistance commander in Samarra’ during a dawn raid on his house. The Americans found no one in the home other than the children so they took them prisoner. The Samarra’ correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that US troops raided a home in the al-Hawish area about 17km northeast of Samarra’. The house belongs to a Resistance commander who has been wanted by the US occupation forces for two years. Not finding the Resistance man at home, and also failing to find his wife – whom they had intended to arrest as a hostage – the Americans arrested the two children instead…

Hakim calls for tougher U.S. action against Sunnis
Hannah Allam, Jonathan S. Landay and William Douglas
A powerful Iraqi Shiite Muslim leader on Monday urged the Bush administration to step up military attacks against Sunni insurgents and al-Qaida terrorists in his country, saying the United States’ failure to take tougher action against the two groups has brought Iraq to the brink of civil war. “The strikes they are getting from the multinational forces are not hard enough to put an end to their acts, but leave them (to) stand up again to resume their criminal acts,” said Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim, the leader of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) after White House talks with President Bush. He spoke at the U.S. Institute for Peace, a U.S. government-funded foreign policy institute…

US forces seal off Iraqi town, draw criticism
Ghazwan al-Jibouri
U.S. troops have sealed off an Iraqi town after militants forced its mayor and entire police force to resign, and residents said the Americans were preventing aid convoys from entering and people from leaving. “The town of Siniya has been besieged since Thursday by U.S. forces, who are preventing anyone from entering or going out,” said Hussein Mahjoub, the town’s mayor until he and his fellow councillors resigned last week in fear of their lives. Habib al-Milih, spokesman of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society in Salahaddin province said U.S. troops had been prevented their aid convoy from entering the town on Saturday…

Four Marines killed in helicopter crash in Iraq
The Associated Press
The U.S. military says four Marines died Sunday when a Sea Knight helicopter made an emergency landing in a lake in the Anbar province west of Baghdad. Twelve passengers survived the crash. A Marine was pulled from the water, but attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. A search was then conducted for three missing Marines, whose bodies have now been found. The military says the pilots “maintained control of the aircraft the entire time” after it experienced mechanical problems. Officials say it was not hit by enemy fire…

Murderous army
Khalid Amayreh
There is no doubt that the Israeli occupation army is trying very hard to kill the de facto ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. (The term ‘ceasefire’ is itself misleading to a large extent since it implies a false impression of parity between the Israeli occupiers and the Palestinian victims of occupation). And the chief means to do so is by continuing to murder Palestinian civilians, raid Palestinian homes, abduct Palestinian political activists and officials and terrorize ordinary people in the West Bank. On Sunday, 3 December, Israeli occupation soldiers shot and killed a 14-year-old boy at the Askar refugee camp near Nablus. According to the Israeli army, the young boy, Jamil Abdul Karim, threw a stone on an armored Israeli vehicle and had therefore to be executed. Another Palestinian teenager was also executed in similar manner at Beit Inun near Hebron over the weekend…

Iraqi Sunnis Hunted at Hospitals
IslamOnline.net & Newspapers
Blood-thirsty sectarian death squads are leaving no stone unturned in hunting down their victims from prestigious university to residential areas and now hospital corridors, Britain’s Sunday Times said on December 3. “One of my patients in his twenties, suffering from a bullet injury to the abdomen, whom I had operated on and who was doing well, suddenly died,” Dr. Salim Jawad, whose name has been changed for his protection, said in e-mails to and phone interviews with the newspaper. “I had decided to discharge him the following day — it was his sixth post-operative day — when he died without any obvious cause.” Filled with suspicions, Jawad decided to investigate the issue and came to troubling conclusions. I found that many patients were dying with no cause. Most of them were well and ready to walk out of the hospital. Instead they left in wooden boxes,” he said…

The Price of Imperial Overreach
The Withering of the Bush Dynasty
STEPHEN LENDMAN
The Bush family has been characterized in various ways including the Bush dynasty, crime family or syndicate. George Bush is just the latest in a line of unsavory characters but clearly the bad or worst seed and, in the eyes of most honest observers, the least worthy of an unworthy lot. He was supposed to be the latest in the Bush family line chosen to lay another golden egg for the dynasty but turned out instead to be an ugly duckling who’s just been an embarrassment and much worse because of the course he chose and his rigid ideological obstinacy to change even in the face of failure…

Iraq: Fears for ten abducted gay men
GayNZ.com
Ten gay men have been abducted in Iraq and it is feared all of them may have been murdered. Five young activists from Iraqi LGBT, Amjad 27, Rafid 29, Hassan 24, Ayman 19 and Ali 21 were seized at gunpoint by Iraqi police while holding a secret meeting in the al-Shaab district of Baghdad on 9 November. They were communicating with Ali Hili, a British-based gay Iraqi Muslim who heads Iraqi LGBT and is Middle East spokesman for UK queer rights group Outrage. Hili said: “For the last few months they had been documenting the killing of lesbians and gays, relaying details of homophobic executions to our office in London, and providing safe houses and support to queers fleeing the death squads.

“We Cannot Save the Iraqis from Themselves”: Bipartisan Blaming of the Iraqi People

A recent Washington Post piece by Thomas E. Ricks and Robin Wright declares, “From troops on the ground to members of Congress, Americans increasingly blame the continuing violence and destruction in Iraq on the people most affected by it: the Iraqis.” The authors depict a November 15 meeting of the Senate Armed Services Committee “a festival of bipartisan Iraqi-bashing,” quoting the following senators: Carl Levin (D-Michigan, next chairman of the committee: “We should put the responsibility for Iraq’s future squarely where it belongs — on the Iraqis. We cannot save the Iraqis from themselves.”…

Iraq Shiite leader opposes US troop pullout
AFP
The leader of Iraq’s largest Shiite party urged senior US officials not to withdraw US troops from his country but to transfer more military authority to the government in Baghdad. Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, head of the pro-Iranian Supreme Council of Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), told reporters he had “frank and transparent” talks with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on the future US role in Iraq. Iraq’s government “asked for American forces to remain in Iraq while transferring more authority to Iraqi officials and forces to enable them to deal with terrorism,” he said…

Another Bloodbath in Lebanon?
Mike Whitney
When Hezbollah puts a million people on the streets of Beirut, it doesn’t appear on the front page of the New York Times. That spot is reserved for Bush’s “made-in-Washington” extravaganzas like the Cedar, Orange or Rose revolutions. Those bogus revolutions were cooked up in American think tanks and engineered by US NGOs; that’s why they got headline coverage in the Times. The Beirut demonstrations don’t promote the political agenda of the America’s ruling elite, so they’re stuck on page 8 where they’ll be ignored. Some things never change. But the demonstrations are an important part of the drama which is currently unfolding in the region…

Bush’s Meeting With A Murderer
Robert Dreyfuss
President George W. Bush meets today with Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, the turbaned leader of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), a Shiite fundamentalist party that is strongly tied to Iran. In so doing, the president is meeting with someone who, perhaps more than anyone else in Iraq, is responsible for trying to destroy Iraqi national unity, prevent national reconciliation among Iraq’s ethnic and sectarian mix, and push Iraq into civil war. Al-Hakim, who was virtually Fed-Ex’d into Iraq by the Pentagon in March 2003, was a mainstay of the Iraqi National Congress, led by neoconservative darling Ahmed Chalabi throughout the 1990s. And today al-Hakim controls the SCIRI militia, the Badr Brigade, the Iraqi interior ministry and many of Iraq’s feared death squads. Not to put too fine a point on it, Hakim is a mass murderer…

CAMEL JOCKEYS AND SAND NIGGERS
Malcom Lagauche
Desert Storm was not fought exclusively in Iraq and Kuwait. The home front provided much distrust and animosity against Arab-Americans and the ensuing ill mood that was created helped the U.S. government baffle the American people about the real nature of the slaughter. This campaign held similarities to almost every U.S. military incursion since 1945. All but one of the U.S.-designated enemies since the end of World War II have been countries governed and populated by non-Caucasians. Each enemy carried its own form of racist nomenclature. The North Koreans and North Vietnamese were “gooks.” The Dominican Republic and Grenada were populated by “niggers.” In 1986, former b-movie-actor-turned-president, Ronald Reagan, switched hemispheres when he ordered the bombing of Libya, a country filled with “camel jockeys.” Bush I carried on the U.S. tradition in 1989 by ordering the invasion of Panama, ruthlessly killing thousands of “spics and niggers” in five days, as well as burning thousands of homes to the ground in Operation Just Cause…

I am writing to you to alert you to the arrest of Dr Hussain Al Kafaji, in a joint operation by the US/ Scorpion unit – Iraqi Special Forces. The Arabic link below from the Iraqi Radio Dijla website, cites finding Cadmium Oxide in a factory that belongs to Dr Al Khafaji. This Chemical is widely used in commercial applications. We are deeply concerned not the least because of the notorious reputation of the Scorpion special forces unit. Their detainees rarely ever resurface unharmed if not killed and mutilated bodies dumped in the rubbish tips. This unit seems to operate with complete impunity, just like the occupying forces…

Former Lebanese Prime Minister Salim Hoss says pro-US government follows orders from Washington
Al-Manar TV
Lebanese former Prime Minister Salim Hoss said that the current government of Fouad Saniora will not seek to find a solution to the political crisis in the country, because its decision to stay or to leave lies in the hands of the US administration. In a statement he made Friday, Hoss chided Saniora’s ruling bloc for not taking any step towards solving the problem of the government at a time the people are sharply divided over it. The former PM also addressed the opposition asking it to set a date to end the sit-in, adding that his “Third Power” will not take part in the move fearing a likely infiltration of “the fifth column.” Hoss accused the United States of choosing to take a side in the Lebanese internal conflict, under the pretext of serving a democracy, the former PM dismissed this as “fake.”…

George Bush: The Voices In His Head
ddjango
…Far from being the first time, the question arises about our President – what is wrong with this guy? Since the election, Doubleduh has been all over the place, saying everything from “we need a new direction in Iraq” (which is exactly what the Baker-Hamilton bunch are about) and “the people have spoken” to “screw you, I’m not leaving Iraq, no matter what anyone says”. There has been, during the past few years, occasional (but insufficient) speculation about Bush’s mental state. I say “insufficient” because I think it goes without saying that a president’s mental stability and healthy cognitive functioning is an important consideration for a man who has the ultimate decision-making power in areas such as a nuclear attack, an invasion of another country, or declaring domestic martial law and incarceration of thousands of Americans…

Letter from James Abourezk, former US Senator from South Dakota to Jeff Blankfort on the Israel Lobby
Jeff Blankfort
Dear Jeff: I just finished reading your critique of Noam Chomsky’s positions in an e mail sent to me by Tony Saidy. I had never paid much attention to Chomsky’s writings, as I had all along assumed that he was correct and proper in his position on the Arab-Israeli conflict. But now, upon learning that his first assumption is that Israel is simply doing what the imperial leaders in the U.S. wants them to do, I concur with you that this assumption is completely wrong. I can tell you from personal experience that, at least in the Congress, the support Israel has in that body is based completely on political fear—fear of defeat by anyone who does not do what Israel wants done…

Bush Crime Family Crony Robert Gates a Shoo-In
Kurt Nimmo
“Robert Gates, the former CIA director and Texas A&M University president, is expected to easily win nomination as President Bush’s next defense secretary following a hearing today that is likely to focus on strategies in Iraq,” reports Express-News. Easy nomination, no matter the guy is a criminal, not to mention a blood-thirsty warmongering psychopath. Gates was at the core of the so-called Iran-Contra affair, but then it is business as usual in Washington, as the Bush administration is packed like a sardine tin with Iran-Contra criminals. Lawrence E. Walsh, the independent counsel in the Iran-Contra investigation, knew Gates was lying about his collaboration with fellow criminal, now respected Fox News talking head, Oliver North, the guy who wanted to suspend the Constitution and throw demonstrators in gulags under Rex-84. In 1984, as understudy and protégé of then CIA director-ghoul, William Casey, Gates wanted to bomb the dickens out of Nicaragua…

After the Taliban’s successful spring offensive there are calls from Kabul for reconciliation with them, indications from the US and recognition of the fact from Pakistan that without striking a major deal with the Taliban, there can be no peace and stability in Afghanistan. The Taliban, though, forced out of power by the US-led invasion of 2001 for harboring Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, are already planning for next year’s offensive, the central aim of which is to retake Kandahar, their previous spiritual capital…
