A strategy for Iraq? Try this …
Truth About Iraqis
…There is only ONE strategy for Iraq. The US presence must withdraw or be made to withdraw. The resistance must purge Iraq of 1. Badr 2. SCIRI 3. The entire Maliki government 4. Daawa 5. Wahabis (who are entrenched in a war against Al Awda in Anbar) 6. Iranian agents 7. Saudi agents 8. The Peshmerga Strategy? Secularism is the strategy. Oh, but didn’t we have that with Baath? And then they criminalized the Baath Party, purged it, let sectarian conflict rage and now they are talking to the Baathists again?…

Dear Mr President : Thanksgiving Mea Culpas
Felicity Arbuthnot
…Given the ‘ widows and orphans …’ created by your policies perhaps you were looking for mea culpas – rather than thanks – to God. Respectfully, here are a few ideas. 1. First, obviously, as a professed believer, to the Supreme Being, for invoking His name in demented decisions. He who instructed (for believers) forgiveness, the love of thine enemy and above all: ‘thou shalt not kill’. He had a bit to say about not coveting that of others, too. For denigrating His name, and declaring you acted on His instructions. Mea culpa? (…) For the destruction and illegal invasion of Iraq, kidnapping of sovereign government. For destroying the ‘cradle of civilisation’. For the desecration of Qurna, believed site of the Garden of Eden; destruction of Babylon, site of the Biblical Hanging Gardens; desecration and destruction of parts of Ur, where the Father of your religion, Abraham (for believers) was suckled on two fingers, one which brought forth milk and the other honey (thus: ‘land of milk and honey’.) The decimation of Kufa, first Arab capitol, where the dove is supposed to have brought back the olive leaf to Noah’s ark, indicating the receding of the flood. And the looting of the history of humanity. Your actions have snatched the world’s heritage from generations to be born. Sackcloth and ashes and walking barefoot over broken glass till life’s end, would not even get near an adequate mea culpa…

Ex-Saddam deputy urges rejecting talks
SALAH NASRAWI Associated Press Writer
A former top deputy to Saddam Hussein has urged followers in a letter to turn down proposals for reconciliation talks with the United States or the Iraqi government, according to former Baath party members outside Iraq familiar with the letter (…) The letter comes at a time when Saddam’s followers are taking steps to regroup and regain political influence outside Iraq _ including forging ties with other Sunni-dominated Arab governments and setting up Internet sites to get their message out…

What is the Mission? Or, Russian Roulette
Juan Cole, Informed Comment
…Well, something clearly was going on in Ramadi on Sunday, though it isn’t clear from these staccato and desultory items what exactly it was. As I understand it, there are daily battles between US forces and local ones in Ramadi and its environs. This Sunni Arab city of 400,000 west of Baghdad is under continual siege. I want to ask a question here. Why? When and under what conditions will it be lifted? (…) If they don’t, they should specify the mission. What is the mission of the US military in Ramadi? I hope my readers will press their representatives in Congress and the executive branch to answer this question. What is the mission? When will it be accomplished? At what point will the people of Ramadi wake up in the morning and say, ‘We’ve changed our minds. We like the new government dominated by Shiite ayatollahs and Kurdish warlords. We’re happy to host Western Occupation troops on our soil. We don’t care if those troops are allied with the Israeli military, which is daily bombing our brethren in Gaza and killing them and keeping them down. We’re changed persons. We’re not going to bother to set any IEDs tonight and we’ve put away our sniping rifles.’ (You could substitute Tikrit, Samarra’, Baquba, and other Sunni Arab cities for Ramadi)…

Iran destroyed Iraq, and the US helped
Truth About Iraqis
When I lived in Baghdad, in 7ay al Jami3a, there was a vacant lot across from my house. It housed mostly rubble, some trash, a deflated wheel – your run of the mill junkyard. One day, the boys of the street I lived on gathered and cleared away all the rubble. We even hauled sand from one area of the lot to the other. We set up makeshift goal posts and pretty soon had created our own football pitch. We played there day and night (…) We all ate at each others’ houses. All the families knew one another. We were secular and religious, Shia and Sunni, Iraqi and non-Iraqi. I read somewhere that Iraqi football was the only thing Iraqis agreed on. They only thing uniting them. True, because it reminded them of a time when they played together in the streets or the sand lot or the pitch. Now ask yourself why Sadr wanted to ban it. To remove any semblance of unity in Iraq, as ordered by his masters in Iran. This was Iraq. And you the Green Zone Iraqi helped destroy it. American taxpayers helped Iran destroy it. This is what the Iraqi resistance fights for. We want our country back. And we will win …

SECOND CLASS STATUS GOES BEYOND THE GRAVE FOR PALESTINIANS
Desert Peace
The new Museum of Tolerance currently being built in Jerusalem has become one of the greatest examples of intolerance. Early in the excavation stage it was discovered that the site slated for construction was at one time used as the Muslim cemetery in Jerusalem. The Islamic movement appealed to the Supreme court requesting that an alternative site be found on the religious grounds that it was forbidden by Islamic Law to move the graves in question… But, we are talking about Muslim graves, not Jewish ones… we are talking about the building of a Tolerance Museum… in reality we are talking about just another example of why zionism is a racist ideology…

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Monday, 27 November 2006
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice
In a dispatch posted at 4:25pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military had admitted that one of its F-16 fighter bombers had gone down near the town of al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad. Mafkarat al-Islam reported an Iraqi journalist as telling al-Jazeera satellite TV that according to eyewitnesses the American airplane was flying at low altitude in the area when the Resistance ambushed it from the ground and struck it with a missile, bringing it down immediately. An American statement said that there had been only one pilot aboard the craft. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent noted that the airplane had been dropping cluster bombs on Resistance fighters in the area just before it was shot down. The US forces imposed a curfew in the area where the warplane was shot down and swarms of US aircraft could be seen cruising in the skies over the area…

U.S. F-16 crashes in Iraq, pilot dead: witnesses
Reuters
An F-16 fighter on a combat mission near Baghdad crashed on Monday, and the pilot appeared to have died after ejecting. A local journalist who shot film of the wreckage of the plane after it came down north of Falluja in Iraq’s western Anbar province said he was in no doubt the pilot was dead. The U.S. military confirmed the crash but said it had no information on the fate of the pilot or the cause of the crash. The film showed the bloodied and motionless body of what appeared to be a man in a flight suit wearing a parachute harness lying in a field strewn with the wreckage of the plane…

Women and Children First: The Lessons of Iraq
Chris Floyd
…We’ve killed hundreds of thousands of these weaklings already, been killing them for years, with sanctions, bombs, snipers, chaos, deprivation, whatever. Who cares? You know what’s really important? If Jim Baker can “seal his legacy in the realm of statesmen” by spraying enough perfume on the shitheap that Junior Bush has made of Iraq so that the high and mighty of the American Establishment can slither out of the mire without smelling too bad. That’s what it’s all about, baby, that’s the kind of thing that counts. How a lifelong, bloodstained bagman can become a “second Disraeli.” How Hillary and Obama can nuance their positions to squeeze maximum political mileage out of the American-made mass slaughter in Iraq. How many he-man poses John McCain can strike on his knees as he grovels to the slavering extremists he thinks will make him president. That’s where the focus of our political discourse will be from here on out. (With frequent side dishes of stern condemnation of the worthless Iraqis for “failing” us, of course.)…

It is strange how in Iraq slaughter soon seems to be part of normal life
Patrick Cockburn, Independent
Iraq is rending itself apart. The signs of collapse are everywhere. In Baghdad, the police often pick up more than 100 tortured and mutilated bodies in a single day. Government ministries make war on each other. A new and ominous stage in the disintegration of the Iraqi state came earlier this month when police commandos from the Shia-controlled Interior Ministry kidnapped 150 people from the Sunni-run Higher Education Ministry in the heart of Baghdad. Iraq may be getting close to what Americans call “the Saigon moment”, the time when it becomes evident to all that the government is expiring. “They say that the killings and kidnappings are being carried out by men in police uniforms and with police vehicles,” the Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said to me with a despairing laugh this summer. “But everybody in Baghdad knows that the killers and kidnappers are real policemen.”…

Does It Matter What You Call It?
Genocide or Erasure of Palestinians
KATHLEEN and BILL CHRISTISON
During an appearance in late October on Ireland’s Pat Kenny radio show, a popular national program broadcast daily on Ireland’s RTE Radio, we were asked as the opening question if Israel could be compared to Nazi Germany. Not across the board, we said, but there are certainly some aspects of Israel’s policy toward the Palestinians that bear a clear resemblance to the Nazis’ oppression. Do you mean the wall, Kenny prompted, and we agreed, describing the ghettoization and other effects of this monstrosity. Before we could elaborate on other Nazi-like features of Israel’s policies, Kenny moved on to another question. Within minutes, while we were still on the air, a producer handed Kenny a note, which we later learned was a request from the newly arrived Israeli ambassador to Ireland to appear on the show, by himself. Several days later, on the air by himself, the ambassador pronounced us and our comparisons of Israeli and Nazi policies “outrageous.”…

ZOG, again
Xymphora
Nancy Pelosi’s no dummy. She’s been outed as a crazed Zionist, so she can hardly go around placing other crazed Zionists in positions of power in order to finalize the Zionist Occupation Government. Total Israeli control over America can’t be allowed to be that obvious. Thus the head-fake over Murtha. By pretending to support John Murtha as majority leader, she managed to have crazed Zionist Steny Hoyer installed without a hint of Pelosi fingerprints on the maneuver. The American media bought the trick hook, line and sinker, describing the whole mess as a great embarrassment to her. Ha! A crazed Zionist would hardly want a staunch anti-Iraq-war guy like Murtha in power, even though Americans clearly voted for an anti-war position. Who cares what the voters want, if Israel wants something different? In one of the most bizarre instances in modern American political skullduggery, Murtha was disqualified because he was swiftboated as an alleged bribe recipient, on the basis of a videotape showing him refusing a bribe. In all the confusion Hoyer slid in, and nobody noticed the feint…

Lebanese regime approves US-backed tribunal directed against Syria
Patrick Martin
The Lebanese cabinet voted Saturday to approve the establishment of an international tribunal to try suspects in the 2005 assassination of former prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri. The action sets the stage for a further confrontation between the United Nations Security Council and the Syrian government of President Bashar al Assad, the main target of the tribunal. The decision was the cabinet’s first major action since the assassination Tuesday of Pierre Gemayel, the industry minister and member of the Phalange Party. It came by unanimous vote, following last week’s walkout by six cabinet ministers allied with Syria, five of them members of Hezbollah and Amal, the two major Shiite parties…

GI Special 4K25: “ Every Way Wrong” – November 26, 2006
Thomas F. Barton
The truth is that the enemy has been created by US and Coalition Forces.
The enemy is not someone who was waiting when we invaded.
He was not wearing a uniform, carrying military issued weapons or equipment…he was at home with his family when our bombs first dropped on Iraqi soil.
We’ve killed his family friends, trashed his house, kicked his door in, and taken the last bit of freedom that they had. And most people thought that Saddam ruled with an iron fist!

Palestinian elderly refugee abducted, killed in Iraq
Saed Bannoura – IMEMC & Agencies
Last Wednesday, a 70-year old Palestinian refugee in Iraq was abducted by a group that carried repeated attacks against the Palestinian refugees living in Iraq. The man, Tawfiq Abdul-Khaliq, Abu Al Abed, was found dead on Monday with clear marks of torture on his body. Abu Abed is one of dozens of Palestinian refugees who were abducted, tortured and killed by unknown groups in Iraq. Several groups voiced threats against the Palestinians in Iraq and warned them to leave the country or face death. The Hamas movement, and several Palestinian groups, slammed the killing of Abu Abed and the targeting of Palestinian refugees living in Iraq. The movement called on the Iraqi government, Islamic and national movements in Iraq to interfere in order to stop the attacks carried against the Palestinians in Iraq. The movement demanded a probe into the incidents of abductions and killings of the Palestinian refugees in Iraq. Also, Hamas appealed the Iraqi people to be united “in order to foil any attempt to create conflicts among them, and to unite against the American occupation there”…

The Iraq Study Group: Official damage control and cover-up
Larry Chin, Global Research
The Iraq Study Group (ISG) is a “bipartisan task force” created by the US Congress in response to the failure of the Bush administration to better manage the occupation of Iraq. Mainstream media reporting and official statements from Washington have characterized the ISG as proof of a “shift towards diplomacy” in the Middle East. These same reports cite the sponsorship of the so-called US Institute for Peace as evidence that the ISG represents a “change of course”. In fact, the ISG is another official damage control apparatus, spearheaded by notorious Western political and corporate elites, former military-intelligence officers, and “experts” from right wing and intelligence-connected Western think tanks---one of which is the US Institute for Peace itself…
