Iraqi Guerilla
Mike Whitney
…There is a tendency in the West to minimize the accomplishments of the Iraqi resistance, but no one can dispute the results. With limited arms and resources, they have out-flanked, out-maneuvered and thoroughly-confounded the best-trained, best-equipped, high-tech military war-machine the world has ever seen. That’s no mean achievement. I expect that many high-ranking American officers secretly admire their enemy’s effectiveness. They’ve waged an impressive battle under very thorny circumstances and they’ve persevered despite clear disadvantages in communications, logistics, firepower, propaganda, mobility and supplies. With the most primitive of weaponry and bomb-making equipment, they’ve gone nose-to-nose with the world’s only superpower and forced a stalemate. In truth, the Iraqi resistance has succeeded where the Congress, the United Nations, and the millions of peace-loving antiwar citizens across the globe failed; they stopped the Bush juggernaut dead in its tracks.

America Has Left the Building: An Open Missive of Anger and Hope
Phil Rockstroh
…But we must not let ourselves — the true beneficiaries of empire — off so easily: Our national tragedies (from all the corpses amassed, buried and forgotten in our imperial wars — to our intransigence and denial regarding Global Warming) are a collaborative effort with our leaders: A joint and living lie of the mind — made manifest by collective desire and remorseless pursuit. Upon the occasion of our cultural confabulation of colonial hagiography dubbed “Thanksgiving,” a tradition when we stuff our overweight bellies by devouring big, growth hormone-injected, flightless birds in order to celebrate, what in truth was, a Thanks-taking of this land by our ancestors from its original inhabitants — (but a hearty salutation of “Happy Genocide Day” doesn’t exactly stimulate the appetite, does it?) — I will address the following missive to you — my fellow unindicted (perhaps even unconscious) co-conspirators in the crimes of our country. Let’s begin with the things nearest to us: The structures and objects we see before us, everyday. And it’s not a beautiful sight to behold…

The Cumulative Effect of Lesser Evils
Charles Sullivan
…What essential difference to imperialistic policy does the mid term elections make? Does anyone honestly expect the Democratic majority to energetically work to repeal the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act? Will the Democrats even attempt to get the NSA and the FBI out of our computers? Will they cut off the funding for the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq? Will it subvert the planned bombing of Iran? Will it halt the government’s unconditional support for the criminal Israeli occupation of Palestine with its doctrine of brutality, subjugation, and ethnic cleansing? Will the Democrats even attempt to restore habeas corpus?…

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Wednesday, 22 November 2006
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice
…On Wednesday morning the Resistance destroyed a third US Humvee in the Bani Dahir area and one hour later a fourth Humvee was blown up in the al-Khafjiyah area of eastern al-Hadithah, killing another four US troops, the source said. The source said that one detachment of the Resistance had carried out all four of those attacks and he noted that other Resistance organizations were carrying out similar attacks elsewhere in the city. The Resistance source confirmed that the city was still under a tight blockade on all sides. The Americans cut off electricity from the local hospital as a kind of punishment for the people, killing five children amidst international silence. Three pregnant women died because the occupation forces prevented them from getting to the hospital. At the present time, water and electricity have been shut off in the whole city and food supplies are also blocked by the American forces who have imposed a curfew in an attempt to put popular pressure on the Resistance, but the Resistance attacks have only become more ferocious…

Iraq war was good for Israel: Olmert
Dan Williams, Reuters
The Iraq war was a boon for Israel’s security, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Wednesday, voicing fresh endorsement for a Bush administration sapped by the unpopularity at home of its Middle East policies. The mid-term election losses of U.S. President George W. Bush’s Republican Party were widely considered a repudiation of his decision to topple Iraq’s Saddam Hussein as part of a vision of democratizing the region and bolstering allies like Israel. Olmert avoided explicit comment on the Republicans’ fortunes during Washington talks with Bush earlier this month. But in a speech to visiting American Jews, Olmert made clear he had few regrets about the changes wrought by the 2003 invasion of Iraq…

October deadliest month ever in Iraq
STEVEN R. HURST, Associated Press
At least 101 Iraqis died in the country’s unending sectarian slaughter Wednesday, and the U.N. reported that 3,709 Iraqi civilians were killed in October, the highest monthly toll of the war and one that is sure to be eclipsed when November’s dead are counted. The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq also said citizens were fleeing the country at a pace of 100,000 each month, and that at least 1.6 million Iraqis have left since the war began in March 2003. Life for Iraqis, especially in Baghdad and cities and towns in the center of the country, has become increasingly untenable. Many schools failed to open at all in September, and professionals – especially professors, physicians, politicians and journalists – are falling to sectarian killers at a stunning pace…

Thanks To The Car Bomb
an iraqi tear
I know thanking a car bomb could astonish you; yet today I really need to thank that driver who managed to sneak a car bomb into the Green Zone.. Until yesterday, those who are living in that fortified place were insisting to not feel what a car bomb means! They were in a place while the whole Iraqis were and still in another place.. Now and after that car bomb finished the myth of the safe heaven, the Green Zone, I advice those who came on the board of the American tanks to destroy Iraq should live us. They should feel satisfy. They planted the sectarian and ethnic clashes among the Iraqis. They killed enough academics, journalists, teachers and 655 000 Iraqis. They stole billions of dollars. They destroyed the Iraqi memory through stealing the libraries and the giant Iraqi National museum. They worked for Bush in a way that Bush him self had never imagined. LEAVE US ALONE. WE COULD MANAGE OUR LIFE TOWARD RESTORING SECURITY AND IRAQ…

The Zarqawi affair, part 17 of 23
B. J. Sabri, Online Journal Contributing Writer
…Conclusively, ascribing an incompatibility problem to Iraq uncovers a precise plan for the structural destabilization of the occupied country to strengthen the imperialist rationalizations on the incompatibility concept thus preparing for partition as a solution. Is the partition of Iraq a new idea? No. Zionist historian Bernard Lewis advocated it, Zionist Leslie Gelb embraced it, Imperialist Joseph Biden teamed up with Gelb to write a blueprint, and, recently, two veteran traditional imperialists: James Baker and Lee Hamilton (the ongoing: Iraq Study Group) endorsed it. But, as you can see, the origin of the idea to partition Iraq is exclusively Zionist…

Three U.S. Marines die in Iraq
Associated Press
Three U.S. Marines were killed fighting in Anbar province, the western Iraqi base of many Sunni-Arab insurgents, the military said Thursday. The Marines assigned to Regimental Combat Team 7 died Wednesday, the military said. The names of the deceased were withheld pending notification of relatives. The deaths raised to at least 2,870 the number of U.S. servicemen who have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count…

WAR NEWS FOR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2006
Today in Iraq
At least 13 Iraqis were killed and six wounded Wednesday in attacks by suspected insurgents using drive-by shootings and bombings in Baghdad and other areas of Iraq. Raad Jaafar Hamadi, an Iraqi journalist working for the state-run al-Sabah newspaper in Baghdad, was killed in a drive-by shooting Wednesday, police said. The slaying raised to at least 92 the number of journalists who have been killed in Iraq since the Iraq war began. Thirty-six other media employees — including drivers, interpreters and guards — also have been killed, all of them Iraqi except one Lebanese. A U.S. soldier died of a non-hostile injuries north of Baghdad on Tuesday, raising to at least 2,866 the number of U.S. servicemen who have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003. So far this month in Iraq, 48 American service members have been killed or died. Gunmen attacked a police patrol and killed three policemen in Baquba…

Hard lessons for Baghdad teachers
IRIN
…Since February this year when sectarian violence began to escalate, nearly 210 teachers have been killed and at least 3,700 have fled Iraq to neighbouring countries, according to the Ministry of Higher Education. But Ala’a said she will not flee, though she worries for the safety of her family and herself. “I’m tired and stressed. In the past few months, I have been seriously afraid that something could happen to me and my daughters. Women in Iraq are in constant danger because of the increase in violence, especially rape,” Ala’a said. “Ten days ago my colleague was raped by four men on her way back from the school. She lost the most precious thing she had – her virginity. She is depressed and just wants to kill herself because she feels shamed in the eyes of society…

THE AFTERMATH OF THE FIRST THANKSGIVING
Malcom Lagauche
This is the time of the year when we are inundated with propaganda about the U.S. holiday, Thanksgiving. Recently, the History Channel showed its rendition. The same old story: weary Pilgrims were taught how to plant crops in the new land of America by some savvy Native Americans. Then, to thank the Indians and God, the Pilgrims held a celebration in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Everybody had a great time. This was brotherhood among human beings at its best. Then, the documentary went forward in time to the 18th century. What happened between 1621 and 1675 was completely ignored. Most U.S. history books rarely mention the fate of the Indians who helped the Pilgrims survive…

Iraqi doctors are under threat and fleeing the country, lawmaker says
The Associated Press
Iraq’s top doctors are under threat and are fleeing the country, leaving hospitals in the hands of medical students or junior physicians, an Iraqi lawmaker said Wednesday. Doctors have been kidnapped and killed since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003 that toppled ex-Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, said Dr. Rajaa al-Khuzai, an obstetrician who is an elected member of the Iraqi National Council. “They have been targeted since the fall of the regime,” she told The Associated Press during a visit to Austria. “Some of them have been kidnapped and found dead in the streets, some have been released after paying a ransom.”…

Bush’s Defeated Foe: US Civil Liberty
Paul Craig Roberts
George Orwell warned us, but what American would have expected that in the opening years of the 21st century the United States would become a country in which lies and deception by the President and Vice President were the basis for a foreign policy of war and aggression, and in which indefinite detention without charges, torture, and spying on citizens without warrants have displaced the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution? If anyone had predicted that the election of George W. Bush to the presidency would result in an American police state and illegal wars of aggression, he would have been dismissed as a lunatic. What American ever would have thought that any US president and attorney general would defend torture or that a Republican Congress would pass a bill legalizing torture by the executive branch and exempting the executive branch from the Geneva Conventions?…

What is to be Done?
Palestinian Solidarity in a Time of Massacres
GILAD ATZMON
Let’s face it; while the Palestinian and Arab resistance evolves into an absolute example of the ultimate heroism and collective patriotism, the Palestinian solidarity movement in the UK and around the world is not exactly what could be called a profound success story. In fact, it would be erroneous to state that this is really the fault of those who dedicate their time and energy to it. Supporting the Palestinians is a complicated subject. Though the crimes against the Palestinians have taken place in broad daylight and are not some well-kept secret, the priorities of the solidarity movement are far from being clear. When thinking about Palestinian society we are basically used to thinking of some sharp ideological and cultural disputes between the Hamas and PLO. Not that I wish to undermine that staunch disagreement, but I am here to suggest an alternative perspective that perhaps could lead towards a different understanding of the notion of Palestinian activism and solidarity both ideologically and pragmatically…

How Can We Allow This to Go On?
The Massacre at Beit Hanoun
KATHLEEN CHRISTISON
Ha’aretz correspondent Gideon Levy described the situation in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun in a searing article on Sunday. He proposed, half seriously, that the Israeli colonies removed last year as part of Israel’s so-called “disengagement” from Gaza should be returned because they would serve “as the last human shield for a million and a half residents who now comprise one of the most helpless populations in the world. Incarcerated, without any assistance, they are liable to starve to death. Exposed, without any protection, they fall prey to the Israel Defense Force’s operations of vengeance.” How can we Americans ignore this? How can we bear it? How can we bear to continue paying for Israel’s atrocities? How can we possibly allow this inhumanity to be perpetrated in our name without crying out in horror, without bringing down our own government that sits by doling out the money and the weapons to keep this horror going, without severing altogether any ties with Israel’s Nazi government?…

Olmert and the Baker Boys
Kurt Nimmo
…It should be obvious Israel’s Mossad engineered the assassination of Pierre Gemayel in Lebanon as a response to the Baker Boys and the emerging recommendations of the Iraq Study Group. It was, in effect, a stone thrown to kill two birds—one, to sully Syria and thus make any accommodation proposed by Baker and Hamilton untenable and second to ratchet up ethnic and religious animosity in Lebanon, a process well underway in the wake of Pierre Gemayel’s timely murder…

Who killed Pierre Gemayel?
Xymphora
Maronite Christian cabinet minister Pierre Gemayel was assassinated in Beirut. Needless to say, all blame immediately falls on Syria, despite the fact that such an assassination, particularly at this time, makes no sense from the Syrian point of view. Syria’s position in Lebanon hasn’t been this strong in years – it’s even stronger than when Syria still had troops in Lebanon – with the Lebanese government falling apart, and Hezbollah about to take the position it has earned as a result of its successful defense of the country (as opposed to the useless official government). Why would Syria pick this of all times to get rid of a fly speck of a botheration?…

Is Iraq connected to Pierre Gemayel assassination in Lebanon?
Roads to Iraq
Before the assassination yesterday, Elaph revealed the deal made between the US and Syria, according the new site. Syria’s foreign Minister AlMualem visit to Iraq came after “Iraq Study group” meeting with Syrian officials, for sure Syria is now in much stronger position than ever because events have proved once again the correctness of what Syria had anticipated about the American fall in the Iraqi quagmire. AlMualem visit to Iraq would not take place if it were not coordinated with the Americans the green light them, which means that Syria is ready after a long reluctance to cooperate with the United States in Iraq and possibly in Palestinian territory. Which means Syria is ready after a long reluctance to cooperate with the United States in Iraq and possibly in Palestinian territory. Damascus wants to give in Iraq, in return to take elsewhere, in the Golan, and/or in Lebanon, Syrian leadership looking for the restoration of their political influence in Lebanon. What I miss from the whole story is; with all this happening, Israel is just sitting and waiting?…

Roads to Iraq
…- AlJazeera interviewed Salah AlMukhtar, [a well known pro-Ba’ath intellectual] Q: Are you concerned about a civil war if the United States suddenly withdraws from Iraq without negotiations? A: Civil war will not happen, the Iraqi resistance will be in control and security will be imposed after five hours. That is true, at this moment the resistance dominates most areas of Iraq, including Baghdad, except Shulla and Saddam-City which they call it Sadr-City, It is besieged from all directions by the resistance and even there are resistance inside these areas. A: What are concerns then? Q: What we fear is an Iranian direct military intervention if the United States withdrew without negotiations with the resistance. We know that the central objective of the Americans is the division of Iraq to three mini states, a Kurdish state in the north, a Sunni in the center, and Shiite in the south. Iran is a decisive element in the implementation of this scheme, they are the main claw of the US occupation of Iraq…
