Confession of Chalabi’s top assistance
Roads to Iraq
Hamd Al-Shoraidah, was one of Saddam’s opposition and top Chalabi assistance, now he left Chalabi and joined the anti-occupation movement, this is hi-lights of his confession. This is the: He provided the images above, shows US colonel Ted Seal, with Chalabi and Iranian Army, and this interview confirms what Shoraidah says: An American Army colonel, Ted Seal, was assigned to be with Chalabi and his fighters as a liaison officer, and every day he would get on the phone and report back to CENTCOM the status of Chalabi’s fighters, unvetted. A lot of them were from Iran, by the way — Iraqis who had fled to Iran…

Saddam and the History of Islam
K. N. PANDITA
Will there be a realization in the ummah of what has befallen it with death sentence for Saddam given by a court whose judges are appointed not by the people of Iraq but by an external aggressor? The ummah has once again lost the opportunity of wriggling out of the shackles of conservatism and stepping into the era of modernity and internationalism. Saddam, when in power, was the symbol of a new Islam desirous of separating politics from religion. Prior to him, such efforts were either not made or made but faced with failure. History will record that he also failed but not because of his “wrongs”. Iraq has been conquered, devastated and may be even fragmented. The barbarous Hulagu had done her little less harm way back in mid-13th century (…) Saddam was gradually trying to mould a civilization and a mass of people into a great international force based on non-discrimination and equality – the fundamentals of Islamic social philosophy. One day saner elements among the Muslims world over will realize the loss Islam will suffer if Saddam Hussein, the deposed and indicted President of Iraq, is hanged under the verdict of a court under siege…

Hamas: American veto in UNSC tantamount to political, moral, and racist aggression on Palestinians
palestine-info.co.uk
The Hamas Movement has considered the American use of the veto power late Saturday in blocking a UNSC resolution condemning the IOF carnage in Beit Hanun city on Wednesday as a political and moral aggression on the Palestinian people and the just Palestinian question. “The American step serves as a clear message that the USA cares less about the feelings of the bereaved people in Beit Hanun who lost tens of their beloved ones in the massacre”, the Movement underlined in a statement it issued and a copy of which was faxed to the PIC. The statement charged that the USA has unequivocally proved that it goes against human values, ethics, and international laws. The USA further unmasked its hostile stand towards the Palestinian people and Arab and Muslim issues, the statement added…

Baghdad’s morgues working overtime
CHRISTOPHER BODEEN and QAIS Al-ABSHIR, Associated Press Writers
Baghdad’s morgues are full. With no space to store bodies, some victims of the sectarian slaughter are not being kept for relatives to claim, but photographed, numbered and quickly interred in government cemeteries. Men fearful of an anonymous burial are tattooing their thighs with names and phone numbers. In October, a particularly bloody month for Iraqi civilians, about 1,600 bodies were turned in at the Baghdad central morgue, said its director, Dr. Abdul-Razaq al-Obaidi. The city’s network of morgues, built to hold 130 bodies at most, now holds more than 500, he says. Bodies are sent for burial every three or four days just to make room for the daily intake, sometimes making corpse identification impossible…

Learn to say Please, Mr. President
Anwaar Hussain, Fountainhead
Mr. President, Now that a thumping smack has been delivered by American voters to the backside of the Empire building hallucinations of your sponsors, leaving you presidential future effectively bowdlerized, you are well advised to start learning to say ‘please’ to lessen the pain of the remaining two years. Learn to say Please Mr. President because with a whole bunch of Repub-mangled Congressmen let loose upon the Capitol Hill, your interaction with the Dem-dominated Congress will tend to be complicated and emotionally draining exercise for you. The ‘please’ word will act like a balm to the political sores that you are likely to get from the chafing (…) Learn to say Please Mr. President while we now watch the Democrats who until now have been hurling criticism from the safety of the sidelines while your Repub infested House was cheering you on in your world bashing in general and the Iraq genocide in particular. Not only that, while you are busy learning your act, we will also watch them deliver on issues such as the Israel-Palestine conflict, Iran and global warming. But leave that to us Mr. President, you just learn to say please…

Western media parrots Israeli narrative on Beit Hanoun Massacre
Khalid Amayreh, thepeoplesvoice.org
…Interestingly, nearly none of these news media, “the voices of the free world, “ bothered to ask or even wonder why “mistakes” and “technical errors” and “errant artillery shells” are invoked whenever Palestinian (and Lebanese) children and women are killed in the streets of their neighborhoods, while on vacation along the Gaza beach, while fleeing bombardments, as in Mirwaheen in southern Lebanon, or, indeed, while sleeping in their beds as were the latest victims of Israeli savagery. Unfortunately, most western reactions to the massacre didn’t go beyond the usual platitudes and routine statements such as calling on both sides to show restraint. Here are some examples, which show the extreme flaccidity with which the West treats Israeli criminality…

US Veto Against the UN Resolution Palestinian Factions Sack United States
United States & “Israel” Same Garbage
PalestineFreeVoice
Palestinian political factions slammed in a joint statement the veto of United States representative in the United Nation Security Council against a decision that condemns Israeli for its crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza. The factions said in a united statement that “the US after this veto became a target for the Palestinians like Israel is their target,” asserting that the Palestinians will deal with the US as they deal with Israel.” “The UN council is a false council aiming at protecting Israel and restoring its security, without caring about the Palestinian people,” the statement added. U.S. veto against the United Nations decision encourages the Israelis to continue with its aggressions in side the Palestinian territories.

Four British troops killed in Iraq
Agence France-Presse
FOUR British servicemen have been killed and three were left badly wounded after their boat was hit by a home-made bomb in southern Iraq. “We can confirm that there has been an attack on a Multinational Forces boat patrol on the Shatt Al-Arab waterway in Basra city,” said a statement from the Ministry of Defence. “Four servicemen have been killed and three have sustained either very serious or serious injuries.” The injured were evacuated to a nearby logistics base by helicopter. Captain Tane Dunlot told the BBC by telephone from Basra that the troops were attacked using an improvised explosive device, but it was not clear where it was placed…

Hanging Saddam will only make him more popular
Khalid Taha
…In fact, many of those who once were fervent critics of Saddam Hussein are beginning to miss the ‘good old days’ under his rule whenever comparisons with post-Saddam Iraq are made. Whatever their view of Saddam may be, almost all Iraqis agree that the situation now is incomparably worse than it was prior the US-led 2003 invasion. Never before did the people of Iraq face such a level of atrocities (…) From the recent demonstrations against his death sentence, it has become very obvious that Saddam has an increasingly large number of supporters in the country despite his downfall. In fact, despite the Chalabi sponsored ‘de-baathification’, Saddam’s party has remained strong even after being outlawed, and its followers are making a strong comeback to the scene…

Break Embargo Against Palestine: First Time in History, Arab League VETO U.S.? Not Really!
Sabbah’s blog
Earlier today, Arab League said that U.S. veto dooms Mideast peace process. Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa slammed the “incomprehensible” U.S. veto of a United Nations resolution condemning Israel’s devastating raid in the Gaza Strip. “This sends a message that causes us great sorrow and anger. The message was well received, and it tells us that the peace process is completely dead… This veto is incomprehensible and will only fan the flames of anger gripping the Middle East.” Mussa said. The draft resolution would have condemned Wednesday’s artillery strike on the northern Gaza Strip town that killed 19 Palestinians, mostly women and children. It would also have condemned Palestinian rocket firing into the Jewish state. So far… nothing new… Arab League weeping with no actions. The surprise came tonight when the Arab League announced that they are NOT going to adhere to any resolutions or foreign on-ground actions that ban support of Palestinians, financially…

75 Bodies Found in Baghdad, Baqouba
CHRISTOPHER BODEEN, Associated Press Writer
A pair of suicide bombs ripped through a crowd of would-be police recruits in Baghdad on Sunday, killing at least 35, and authorities found 75 bodies in the capital and Baqouba, an unusually high number even by Iraq’s grim standards. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki rebuked lawmakers for putting party and sectarian loyalty ahead of Iraq’s stability, and said he was planning a sweeping Cabinet reshuffle. The spiraling sectarian violence has put al-Maliki under intense pressure…

GI Special 4K9: Osborne’s Soldiers Lost Nine Comrades – November 9, 2006
Thomas F. Barton
Memorial services honoring fallen soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment in Iraq used to require planning meetings of as long as 45 minutes. But at this point, they take barely five.
“We’re here again,” said Chaplain John Hill.
A roadside bomb had killed another soldier from the battalion the day before.
He launched into the unit’s “memorial ceremony execution matrix,” a 40-item checklist of tasks that includes everything from collecting personal effects to finding a singer.
“Unfortunately, we’ve gotten, I won’t say, good at this,” said Lieutenant Colonel Craig Osborne, the battalion’s commander, wrapping up the meeting almost as soon as it began. “It’s become habitual.”
In October, 105 American troops died in Iraq, the most since January 2005.

A vicious monster rises in Iraq’s sectarian war – ‘the Shia Zarqawi’
Colin Freeman and Aqeel Hussein
…Meanwhile, out in the “Red Zone”, as those diplomats now call it, residents face a future in which thugs such as Abu Deraa play an ever more prominent role. So great is the risk of being killed in tit-for-tat violence that Iraqi tattoo parlours are offering “death tags”, showing names and next of kin. Such inkings are a safeguard against ending up among the countless -unidentified bodies in Baghdad’s morgue (…) “We are proud of leaders like Abu Deraa,” said Hassan Allami, 25, a fighter with the Shia cleric Moqtada al Sadr’s Mehdi army, which Abu Deraa quit earlier this year to form his own faction. “His drills destroy the crazy minds of the Sunnis.” The worsening of inter-religious- bloodshed reflects badly on the Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki, whose chief task when he took power in June was to win back Sunni confidence in the political process by stamping out the state’s tacit backing of Shia militias such as the Mehdi Army. Yet, increasingly, men such as Abu Deraa appear to operate beyond anyone’s control at all…

Let’s Not Support Lesser Evilism
Much Ado About Nothing Election Results
Kim Petersen, www.dissidentvoice.org
Post-November 8, the debate on lesser evilism and how best to break away from the military-corporate grip on the United States political landscape continues. David G. Mills wrote a sanguine assessment of the Democratic Party electoral gains in his “The Bill of Rights Party Soundly Beat the Article II Party.” While jubilation among Democratic Party supporters in the aftermath of the November election results is understandable, curious is the excitement among some progressives because, no matter how disdainful the administration of self-proclaimed “war president” George W. Bush is, on major issues the regressive status quo will prevail under either of the evils: lesser and greater…

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Saturday, 11 November 2006
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice
In a dispatch posted at 3:14pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops used loudspeakers to announce that they were intending to bomb houses in the city of ar-Ramadi and then they did in fact strike some of them. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the city as saying that American forces drove patrols around with loudspeaker trucks, announcing that US aircraft were going to strike empty houses in ar-Ramadi, claiming that Resistance fighters use vacant houses for their operations. The witnesses said that US aircraft began to carry out the threat, bombing four uninhabited houses in the ash-Shurtah and al-Mal’ab neighborhoods in the middle of town. The attacks totally destroyed the houses…

Pincus: AIPAC and Neocons Irrelevant
Kurt Nimmo
Walter Pincus, a reporter for the CIA’s favorite newspaper, the Washington Post, addresses a question posed by James Morris on C-Span. Mr. Pincus declares AIPAC and the neocons don’t “control the government,” that is to say they don’t control the foreign policy of the United States in regard to the Middle East, an assertion at odds with the facts. As an example of how C-Span, usually portrayed as less biased than the corporate media, is not interested in allowing call-in questions at odds with the official version of events, note how the host of the program attempts to ignore Morris’s question…

GI Special 4K11: Chumped Again – November 11, 2006
Thomas F. Barton
John Conyers, Ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, didn’t mean it.
“The incoming speaker has said that impeachment is off the table. I am in total agreement with her on this issue: Impeachment is off the table,” Conyers declared after the Democrats stormed the House and Senate.
But wait a minute. Didn’t Conyers seek to create a select committee to investigate Bush crimes and make recommendations regarding grounds for impeachment?
Last December, Conyers, along with Senator Barbara Boxer and Congressmen John Lewis, said Bush committed impeachable offenses by illegally ordering the National Security Agency to eavesdrop inside the country without a court warrant.
