Iraq’s Partition
Moon of Alabama
The discussion within the U.S. foreign policy establishment on the future of Iraq has come to a conclusion. The U.S. will, now officially, work to dissolve the Iraqi nation and state into three independend statelets under a powerless sham national government and, of course, total U.S. control (…) As Col. Lang emphasizes, the seeds for partioning were laid when Cheney and the neocon figures around him ordered the Iraqi army to be disbanded and the de-Baathification of the Iraqi g! overnment, i.e. its total annulment. The idea of partitioning Iraq may even have been the very reason for the war. The New Middle East expression goes back to the “Clean Break” document (pdf) prepared 1996 by U.S. neocons as a strategy for Israel’s Netanyahu government. The first modern partition Iraq argument was made by Zionist strategist Oded Yinon in 1982. In A Strategy for Israel in the Nineteen Eighties he recommends: In Iraq, a division into provinces along ethnic/religious lines as in Syria during Ottoman times is possible. So, three (or more) states will exist around the three major cities: Basra, Baghdad and Mosul, and Shi’ite areas in the south will separate from the Sunni and Kurdish north. The now imminent, new policy of partitioning Iraq is indeed only the announcement of the result of a process that has been the plan and the policy all along. This is a real “Mission Accomplished” moment…

Russia to divide the USA into 3 distinct states
chill888, Newsvine, Inc.
New President Cheney discusses his recent meeting with Foley at the Senate steam room. Russia and China today announced that the USA will be split into three distinct regions. The Red States, the Blue States, and Hawaii — “they will need a place to vacation” – Putin was heard muttering – when asked about Hawaii. Putin declared that Russia had the right to not only suggest this, but to implement the proposal as they are deeply affected by th! e constant bickering of sex scandals in the USA, and the fact that the USA is interested in oil – of which Russia produces a lot (even if they prefer to sell most of it elsewhere). All religious right people in Blue states will be piled into “Freedom Buses” and driven to Red states to avoid abortion arguments, and protests at all the impending gay marriages in Blue States…

North Korea; another foreign policy meltdown
Mike Whitney
The current crisis with North Korea originated in Washington, but you wouldn’t know it by reading the papers. The media’s role is to demonize the ever-expanding list of U.S. enemies who choose not to be “liberated” by the avatars of iron-fisted capitalism. The root of the present crisis is Washington’s unwillingness to honor its prior agreements. It has nothing to do with whether Kim Jung Il is a nutcase or not. When America makes a deal with another count! ry, there’s the expectation that they should follow through. It’s that simple. In 1994 Bill Clinton committed to the “Framework Agreement”; a deal which promised to provide food, fuel and 2 light-water reactors in exchange for North Korea’s abandoning its nuclear weapons programs. The North agreed to these terms but the United States has never honored its obligations. These facts are unchallenged by anyone familiar with the history of U.S.-North Korea relations, but they are scrupulously withheld from coverage in the media…

Putin Fights Back
Mike Whitney
The confrontation between Russia and Georgia looks like a dust-up between neighbors over the arrest of 4 Russian officers accused of spying. In reality, it is a struggle between the Bush administration and Russian President Putin for control of Central Asia. The stakes couldn’t be higher and it appears as though the conflagration could go on for some time to come. The standoff began last week when Georgia President Mikail Saakashvili arrested the 4 officers and charged them with es! pionage. Putin protested their detention to the UN and demanded their immediate release. He then phoned the White House and issued a terse warning that “any actions taken by third parties (the Bush administration) would be considered encouragement of Georgia’s destructive policy and were unacceptable for peace and dangerous for the peace and stability of the region.”…

Hazardous Intent: US Brokers in Palestine
Remi Kanazi
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is back in the Middle East and she is in a “very concerned” state. For someone who has played Israeli ambassador to the Middle East since her tenure began, her on again, off again call for the plight of the Palestinian people has become more predictable than orange alerts during election season. In her newest stint, providing false promises and pernicious rhetoric, Rice vowed to “redouble” US efforts to “improve conditions f! or the Palestinian people.” Rice, however, came to the table empty handed, with photographers trailing closely behind to capture images of hope, concern, and heartfelt declarations. Nevertheless, eye catching headlines and West Bank photo ops will not put food on the table for the Palestinian people, nor will it end the economic, physical, and political blockade imposed upon the Occupied Territories by the international community…

“A Day That Will Live In Infamy”
John St.John
On December 21, 1941 The Japanese government launched a assive air attack on Pearl Harbor. President Roosevelt called this, “A day that will live in infamy. On March 22, 2002 The American Government attacked the country of Iraq without warning killing innocent civilians. Without any doubt this cowardly action was another day that will live in infamy. Like the German army that invaded France and set up a Vichy government: the United States occupied Iraq and set up a pu! ppet government. The Free French of the interior, French Patriots resisted the Germans and killed the Vichy traitors who collaborated with the enemy. In Iraq a similar patriotic resistance to enemy occyupation took place that has become known as the insurgency…

Israel Quits Lebanon – Kind Of
Stephen Gowans
…We might also note, equally wryly, that with small exceptions, Israel has withdrawn from Lebanon. The exceptions are: Israeli troops in the village of Ghajar (Los Angeles Times, October 3, 2006), Israeli warplanes flying over Lebanese territory, and Israeli warships patrolling Lebanon’s coast. (New York Times, October 1, 2006.) In fact, Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon has the character of a person insisting he’s following his diet to a tee, with the small exceptio! n of those times he’s hungry or passes a bakery or delicatessen. The Los Angeles Times (October 3, 2006) noted that the continued occupation of Ghajar prompted “the government in Beirut and Hezbollah militants to contend the Israeli withdrawal was incomplete,” as if this were a matter of interpretation and a legitimate subject for contention…

Just because they are Palestinians
Jabal , Bonsoir
After the fall of Saddam Hussein in Iraq the targeted killing of Palestinians covertly still goes on, carried on by previously unseen death squads. People are killed just because they are Palestinians. The Italian TV channel Rainews 24 report “The displaced people take flight”, by Flaviano Masella edited by Maurizio Torrealta reveals the unbearable situation of hundreds of people with many interviews. They are trying to run away from a massacre t! hat looks like last century’s ethnic cleansings. The interviews were made in Jordan in Ruwayshed refugee camp, which is located in a desert along the way that connects Amman and Baghdad. The camp is run by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and hosts hundreds of Palestinians. They live in tents: in summer temperature can reach 50 degrees and in winter 0 degrees…

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Sunday, 8 October 2006
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice
…The London Sunday Times newspaper reported “informed sources” as saying that an “independent commission” set up by the US Congress with the approval of President George W. Bush and headed by an “old friend” of the Bush family – former US Secretary of State James Baker – is expected to recommend splitting Iraq into three” highly autonomous” regions (…) Sin! ce the US occupation of Iraq in the spring of 2003, American policy has been geared to aggravating sectarian and ethnic differences and turning the various components of Iraqi society against each other. As the futility of imposing effective US control over the country has become more and more apparent, the Americans have increasingly promoted separatism in the country and the idea of a total partition of Iraq has attracted more and more support among American policy-makers (…) Efforts to split Iraq along religious and ethnic lines – which often are masked under language about forming an Iraqi “federation” – are consistent with plans that US and Zionist politicians have long been cultivating…

America trains Abbas’ loyalists in secret camp in Jericho
palestine-info.co.uk
In an apparent American step to ignite a Palestinian civil war, high-ranking Palestinian sources have unveiled that the United States was establishing a secret military camp in the West Bank city of Jericho to train the PA presidential guards (Force-17). The concealed American step comes in the framework of preparing that force for fighting against Hamas Movement under American and Israeli directives, as the IOF troops sponsored muniti! ons supplies to the PA presidential guards. According to a report for the Reuters news agency, a round-the-clock effort was going on at an abandoned lot of 16,000 sq. meters in the city of Jericho to put up the proposed camp that, according to American estimates, would cost 20 million dollars…

It can be viewed or downloaded in its Arabic original from throughthepowerlines.125mb.com. “Under the Radar” = “Intentional Blatant Media Deception!”
Jesse, TvNewsLIES.org
Have you ever heard or read the media discuss the actions of an administration as taking place “under the radar?” This term is used to describe events that take place with little public attention. This term is normally used to describe important events that should attract the attention of the public but are not widely “discussed” and about which most of the public is unaware. What do you think “the radar” is? The “radar” is the “pre! ss!” When you hear about events taking place “below the radar” you are really hearing about events that are taking place with the “complicit cooperation” of the media. This burying of news is intentional and institutional. These events do not go unnoticed by the media; they simply go unreported to the public by the media…

Chest thumping, bullying, and ultimately unleashing the Hell of the Pentagon’s death machine upon ! those brazen enough to resist conversion to the American Way, King George IV has succeeded the tyrant American Revolutionaries toppled over 200 years ago. Lebanon- Foreplay for the Rape of Iran

How the FBI protected Al Qaeda’s 9/11 Hijacking Trainer
New Revelations about Ali Mohamed
Dr. Peter Dale Scott, GlobalResearch.ca
I want to talk tonight about using the 9/11 Report as evidence – evidence of what is being suppressed. We can use it in this way because some parts of the Report are accurate and reliable. This base line of reliability helps define other parts of the Report which are misleading, and in a few places I believe dead wrong. These relevant omissions and deceptions should be taken! as clues as to what is being suppressed, and where the hidden truth lies…

Hidden victims of a brutal conflict: Iraq’s women
Peter Beaumont, The Guardian
…The situation has been exacerbated by the undermining of Iraq’s old Family Code, established in 1958, which guaranteed women a large measure of equality in key areas such as divorce and inheritance. The new constitution has allowed the Family Code to be superseded by the power of the clerics and new religious courts, with the result that it is largely discriminatory against women. The clerics have permitted the creeping re-emergence! of men contracting multiple marriages, formerly discouraged by the old code. It is these clerics, too, who have permitted a sharp escalation in the ‘pleasure marriages’. And it is the same clerics overseeing the rapid transformation of a once secular society – in which women held high office and worked as professors, doctors, engineers and economists – into one where women have been forced back under the veil and into the home. The result is mapped out every day on Iraq’s streets and in its country lanes in individual acts of intimidation and physical brutality that build into an awful whole…

The Six Percent Solution Illusion

In less than a month, a small number of Americans will trek to the polling stations and vote for their preferred mobster, pederast, and warmonger, or all of the above. Oddly, millions of Americans believe their mobster, pederast, and warmonger is better than likewise in another district or state, and thus, once again, the criminal incumbency will thrive for another poisonous cycle, inflicting yet more damage on this former republic, now a unitary decidership…

US, Iraqi troops kill 30 in Shia city clashes
Reuters
US and Iraqi troops killed 30 militants early on Sunday in fierce fighting in the flashpoint southern Shia city of Diwaniya, the US military said. The military said an M1A2 Abrams tank was severely damaged in the battle that erupted after militants opened fire with rocket-propelled grenades on US and Iraqi forces on a mission to detain a “high-value” target. Diwaniya’s southern districts are a stronghold for the Mehdi Army militia of Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sad! r, whose movement is a key player in the Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s government of national unity. A Mehdi Army official, who declined to be named, denied any involvement in the fighting and blamed rogue gunmen. He said Sadr had issued orders to the Mehdi Army “not to attack anybody, including the Americans”. Another Mehdi Army official denied reports of the 30 killed and said only three people had been wounded. Hospital sources said four civilians were wounded, three men and a woman…

US Marine reports widespread prisoner abuse at Guantánamo
Joe Kay, WSWS
A US Marine Corps sergeant has given a sworn affidavit reporting widespread abuse at the US prison camp in Guantánamo Bay. The affidavit comes only a week after the US Congress passed legislation sanctioning indefinite detention, abusive treatment and denial of due process and habeas corpus rights for prisoners held at the facility and at other US prisons around the world. According to the sergeant, a female paralegal working on a criminal ca! se involving one of the prisoners, guards at the prison bragged to her about beating up detainees. “From the whole conversation,” she reported, “I understood that striking detainees was common practice.” The sergeant reported speaking to a group of guards at a bar on the military base, several of whom reported punching prisoners and engaging in other forms of abuse…
