Action & Activism CAMP CASEY DIARY: FRIDAY 19TH TO SUNDAY 21ST AUGUST Emily Sharpe, Electronic Iraq (22 August 2005)

It’s incredible to think that Camp Casey began exactly two weeks ago Saturday with a grieving mother and a close band of supporters sleeping in a ditch along Prarie Chapel Road. The total number of participants coming to Crawford has now swelled by thousands; the infrastructure has gone from tents in the ditch, no bathroom facilities and rudimentary meals to a huge white tent, scores of porta-potties and multi-course dinners. Hundreds of volunteers and donors have come together to make this all possible, and these little improvements in comfort will sustain us until August 31st!

The Media HYPOCRITES AND LIARS Cindy Sheehan, Electronic Iraq (20 August 2005)

The media are wrong. The people who have come out to Camp Casey to help coordinate the press and events with me are not putting words in my mouth, they are taking words out of my mouth. I have been known for sometime as a person who speaks the truth and speaks it strongly. I have always called a liar a liar and a hypocrite a hypocrite. Now I am urged to use softer language to appeal to a wider audience. Why do my friends at Camp Casey think they are there? Why did such a big movement occur from such a small action on August 6, 2005?
