He is under inhumane pressures; a very close and important client of his, who was trying to help those has just got assassinated, just after leaving his offices. But, as best he can in English, in this interview for a New York wbai program on September 23, 2006, a very courageous Evel Fanfan outlines the injustices the poor majority in Haiti are facing with this UN occupation and the remains of the coup d’etat death squads, and in particular, the trauma being suffered by the victims of the two Gran Ravine massacres. He explains how at least 300 houses of civilians in Gran Ravine were burnt to the ground. He tells how even the press is against the masses in Haiti. Since the bicentennial coup d?etat, we have seen how those who speak out, those who resist the tyrants in Haiti, get assassinated or thrown in prison indefinitely without trial, without legitimate charges. HLLN recently brought you the details of Esterne Bruner and how this Gran Ravine community leader was assassinated by Lame Timanchet who are the paramilitaries protected by the coup d?etat police and authorities still in power in Haiti and being cuddled by UN troops.

Right now, we have every reason to be concerned about the life of our partner in Haiti, Haitian attorney Evel Fanfan.

In the interview given to wbai radio program in New York called ?Haiti the Struggle Continues? Evel Fanfan explained why Esterne Bruner, his client, was assassinated.

Based on our recent experiences in Haiti, based on having dealt with so much slaughter and injustices being metered out by the so-called ?peacemakers?, we are very concerned here at HLLN that the killing of Esterne Bruner, right after leaving the law offices of AUMOHD, was also a warning to AUHOHD to stop working for justice for the victims of the two Gran Ravine Massacres.

In this interview Evel Fanfan points to UN complicity in the atmosphere that led to the September 21, 2006 murder of Gran Ravine community leader, Esterne Bruner.

He talks about how the UN soldiers recently took over the High School in Gran Ravine and turned it into a UN barrack. Evel Fanfan says, in this interview that Bruner, a father of six, simply could not accept to see the area?s school turned into U.N. barracks full of deadly arms, while the children have no school to go to. So, Bruner gave a press conference last Monday denouncing this and this also could be one of the reasons why he was assassinated.

They (UN, or UN through Lame Timanchèt and Haitian police death squads) killed Bruner because they see that Bruner can make them move from this high school

I think exactly that they killed Bruner because they want to shut down the movement..for justice. The movement where we are trying to find justice for all the victims. ..They kill Bruner also because they try to get Gran Ravine (area) right now
. But, they understand Bruner is a good leader and they cannot corrupt Bruner with the money.

They killed Bruner also, because they

because sometimes (Bruner) said something to me, something that the soldiers of MINUSTHA said to Bruner
. eh, Bruner go to them (MINUSTHA) and said, asked them ?Lame Timanchet comes here and gives trouble to the area. You are there. What do you do? Why are you there? What do you do exactly.? Do you know what?
some soldiers answered to Bruner:

?Ok, you can get arms, I can sell arms to you, Bruner.?

Bruner, said ?what?!!!? ?YOU (the UN troops) CAN SELL ARMS TO ME? Why? ?

They want Bruner to get arms and to fight. And (our )countrymen to be in massacres. And that?s why I say, right now with MINUSTHA troops, I think the insecurity in Haiti MEANS (the existence of) MINUSTHA troops (in Haiti)!!. I say that because I see they don?t do anything to protect any victims of the first massacre or for the second massacre. Every day I ..work, try to convince them,.. ask them to DO SOMETHING. But they just
They don?t do anything, ok.

So, they (UN troops) are not in Haiti to protect anybody. They are in Haiti to GET our resources in Haiti,. But not to help Haiti in any (way).
