`Why a Vote for Obama Is a Vote for the American Elite … and Why John Edwards Beats Them All’

(TMPress International – New York – January 04, 2008) – Why a Vote for Obama Is a Vote for the American Elite … and Why John Edwards Beats Them All’ … a vote for Obama, Clinton, Giuliani or Romney are seemingly votes for business-as-usual (no pun intended) and the American Elite – all four major candidates are beholden to corporate and millionaire Hollywood money, therefore all of them will bow to the will of those who provided the means to put them into office – and it won’t be the people of ‘poor white and black, working and lower-middle class folks’ across our country as some would suggest.

The swayed corporate media from `Coast to Coast’ has promoted the idea continually (`Oprah to the Rescue’) for Obama and other Hollywood elite … give me a break … it is apparent the national media has put forward the one-or-the-other on the Democratic ticket notion – but again this is baloney. Research amongst a half-dozen national and mainstream polls going into the Iowa Caucus and NH Primary has determined the candidates truest to Democratic ideals, and on that isn’t beholden to corporate interests – and that appears to be Senator John Edwards.

`Hope Over Fear’ says Obama … but what does he really mean … his `edged win in Iowa’ and possible victory in New Hampshire will allow his campaign to briefly surge as he repeatedly `gives the big speech’ motivating not only `hopeful Democrats’ but also a new base of support amongst many GOP independents, Republican or Republican-lite Candidate voters … and Obama is Republican-lite without a doubt.

His history is from a privileged upbringing and private schools … very atypical of someone who says `he is making history’ … why not call it `fooling history.’ Obama’s lack of foreign policy and domestic agenda experience will only produce another Democratic nominee who will self-implode and/or President who has to learn on the job for 4 years and believe me when I say that after the last 8 years of the `learning on the job President’ … the last thing we need now is that an Obama election will otherwise prove there will be no structural changes in Washington, DC; only window-dressing.

The view among what you could call `the great silent majority’ is that John Edwards can sincerely change that window-dressing and that `he indeed is a decent, regular and honorable man from the working class who has worked his way up vs. having it handed to him … a man who has suffered life’s lows the common folk.

Without making much ado … this is a man who lost his oldest son as a late-teen and suffers the shared hardship of `chronic breast cancer’ with his wife Elizabeth and kept it quiet! His observations concerning the problems facing most American citizens resonates loudly and in many circles from North to South, East to West … he, along with other progressives like Ron Paul on the GOP-side, form the only base of progressive sincerity and hopefulness (so far) in this upcoming presidential election. The drab commentary of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Giuliani, Romney and McCain is more like `well-heeled snake-oil salesman’ trying to sell their `glossed-over poison to the masses’ … tell them anything they want to hear to win!

People are even comparing Barack Obama to Bobby Kennedy – `pure baloney’ … Edwards and Paul are the only candidates who understand the plight of the typical American, and both insist that their best fight is with the insidious degradation of our democratic ideals, and communities, from the `rape-and-plunder’ by the Military-Security-Industrial Complex that strangles our liberties, and which also jeopardizes the real security of this country.

We can no longer afford to have leaders who are influenced by, and indebted to, corporate money and agendas and that is indeed Barack Obama. Those like Obama, Clinton, Giuliani, Romney and McCain are all clones of one another … it is the American People who must again enjoy that privilege – not the corporate elite.

Fundamentally … it is only within the striking power of the `Edwards’ Campaign’ to reach that final goal and he has been in Iowa and New Hampshire for the last 4 years trying to create that base of `common victory for the average people of this country!’

There is no substitute for victory … after eight years of George W. Bush and Republican rule, make no mistake: we need a `different, Progressive Victory’ in 2008. This year cannot be the year of `Anybody But Bush’ with the latest flavor of Barack Obama, Clinton, Giuliani, Romney and McCain. We have a very structured field of candidates – given to us by the national media and we cannot be satisfied with simply surviving the primaries.

We need to be sure that we have the best candidate that will not only satisfy Democratic primary voters, but also progressive Republican and Independent voter … someone who will appeal to the vast majority of voters across the country without sacrificing major principles and someone who will frame the debate … not be framed by someone like Oprah Winfrey. For the money … that Presidential choice is only Senator John Edwards.

It is also important to note, as this article does, that Senator John Edwards does the best of any of the Presidential candidates when it comes to matching up with anyone of the Republicans may nominate as a major candidate in any of the 50 states – Barack Obama will not be that choice as the South and West go solid GOP. That is important because it not only shows Senator John Edwards strength in a general election scenario but it also means that Presidential race will be a boost, not a drag, Congressional candidates down the ticket in 2008.

Take Indiana … a bastion of GOP strength for example … it will have some important elections in 2008 but two of the most important will be local Congressional races and a Gubernatorial race. Those races will be tough enough to win without a divisive target at the top of the ticket, such as Barack Obama or Hillary. A State Representative who endorsed Senator John Edwards suggested it plainly … `Edwards is the only one who will not kill us [in Indiana] in 2008.’ How true.

Senator John Edwards campaign will work for votes in every state, not just the `swing states’ … it is assured that his demeanor will produce a fight for every vote and will not stand for any election shenanigans … aka, 2000 and 2004. That is the kind of spirit we need in a leader and the kind of spirit … we have seen in Iowa and will see New Hampshire and all other contested primaries in 2008.

This is indeed the year of `Progressive Politics’ and the `Independent’ and I would not personally count out Senator John Edwards until the bitter end. – By AlterNet Editors, additions by John Osborne, Sr. Editor and distributed by TMPress International Newswire.
