Dubai Investigation Exposes Israeli Ops in USA
Michael Gillespie
March 11, 2010 – An ongoing investigation by the Dubai Police force into the assassination of a high-level Hamas official in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in January has drawn back the curtains of secrecy and deception to reveal yet again the contours of Israel’s massive and ever-expanding espionage operations in the United States. The murder of Mahmoud Al Mabhouh in his room at the Al Bustan Rotana, a 275-room five-star luxury hotel, in Dubai on January 19 has been widely perceived to be a Mossad operation involving, by the most recent count, 27 suspects traveling on fraudulently obtained and falsified European or Australian passports…

Taliban opens to relief agencies?
IRIN News
March 11, 2010 – The insurgents in Afghanistan have shown interest in negotiating with the UN and aid agencies on humanitarian access and aid distributions, according to a purported Taliban spokesman. “If aid agencies contact our local Mujahedin and reach an agreement we would vouch for the safety of their workers and convoys,” Qari Yosuf Ahmadi told IRIN on the phone from an undisclosed location. “Whether it’s a vaccination campaign or food aid distribution they [aid agencies] can do their activities in consultation and agreement with us,” he said. “Support letters” issued by the insurgents have reportedly helped vaccinators to immunize children in areas controlled by the Taliban over the past year…

Millions of Yemenis starving as donors fail to meet pledges, says UN
Hugh Macleod in Thulla
March 11, 2010 – Millions of Yemenis are starving while the international community focuses on security issues and tackling al-Qaida, according to the United Nations. Vital deliveries of food deliveries and assistance is being cut because of a near-total absence of funding. Nearly one in three Yemenis, more than 7 million people, struggles daily to find enough food to live a healthy and productive life, leading to rates of malnutrition that are the third highest in the world, the UN said. A survey by its World Food Programme (WFP) estimates that, of those going hungry each day, 2.7 million are classified as “severely food insecure”, meaning they spend one third of their income on bread…

Poll: 46% of Israeli high-schoolers don’t want equality for Arabs
Yaheli Moran Zelikovich
March 11, 2010 – Racism and refusal to evacuate alongside support for a democratic system of government – these are the jumbled sentiment of Israel’s high school students, according to a recent poll. They support a democratic form of government, but more than half of them believe that Arabs should not be allowed to vote in Knesset elections. One out of every six students would not want to study in the same class with an Ethiopian or an immigrant from the former Soviet Union, and 21% of them think that “Death to Arabs” is a legitimate expression. Nearly every second student would refuse orders to evacuate settlements. They mostly prefer Shimon Peres as prime minister over Ehud Barak and Avigdor Lieberman…

By Or Kashti
March 11, 2010 – Nearly half of Israel’s high school students do not believe that Israeli-Arabs are entitled to the same rights as Jews in Israel, according to the results of a new survey released yesterday. The same poll revealed that more than half the students would deny Arabs the right to be elected to the Knesset. The survey, which was administered to teenagers at various Israeli high schools, also found that close to half of all respondents – 48 percent – said that they would refuse orders to evacuate outposts and settlements in the Palestinian territories…

Military Resistance 8C6: The Army Kills Its Own – 10 March 2010
Thomas F. Barton
The Army Kills Its Own: At Least One In Six Service Members Is On Some Form Of Psychiatric Drug. Some Double The Risk For Suicide. As The Number Of Medications Goes Up, The Probability Of Adverse Events Like Hospitalization Or Death Goes Up Exponentially. There Is Overwhelming Evidence That The Newer Antidepressants Commonly Prescribed By The Military Can Cause Or Worsen Suicidality, Aggression And Other Dangerous Mental States. Doctors — and, more recently, lawmakers — are questioning whether the drugs could be responsible for the spike in military suicides during the past several years, an upward trend that roughly parallels the rise in psychiatric drug use. He cited dozens of clinical studies conducted by drug companies and submitted to federal regulators, including one among veterans that showed “completed suicide rates were approximately twice the base rate following antidepressant starts in VA clinical settings.”
